Nicole was walking through an affluent part of Alexandria, Virginia, with a friend last month, when a man approached her and began screaming.
He railed about the hijab she wore, saying she looked Muslim, and made comments about Hamas raping Israeli women, she said. Her friend corroborated the account.
It was just days after the start of the Israel-Hamas war and the encounter left Nicole feeling rattled, worried and frightened. So much so, that she asked CNN to use only her first name, out of fear for her family’s safety.
“I haven’t stopped wearing hijab. I didn’t after 9/11 either,” she told CNN. “If I have one more person scream at me in public and certainly if someone were to threaten me, I think all bets are off.”
Nicole, who is in her 40s, said she’s been wearing a hijab for more than half of her life. And while she’s grown used to stares and occasional comments about her headscarf, Nicole said she fears the growing anti-Muslim sentiment in the US could escalate into violence.
The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) said the US is experiencing an “unprecedented” increase in reported anti-Arab and anti-Muslim bias incidents in the weeks since the October 7 Hamas attack on Israel.
A week after the Hamas attack, a 6-year-old Palestinian American boy was stabbed to death outside of Chicago. His family’s landlord was charged in what police are calling a hate crime. He’s pleaded not guilty to charges including murder.

What’s really depressing is that I know even conservative people who continue to watch CNN and the other anti-American media, and although they then criticize what they’re seeing and hearing it never seems to occur to them that they themselves are being indoctrinated. Infuriating!
Yes, not a mention in the article of how they were just as horrified as the rest of us when they heard what had happened or how they felt about the gazillion of protests *******supporting****** the dreadful actions of Hamas in Israel...
And I really hated it after they put out warnings to moslems after 9/11 and told Americans to not do bad things to them here. I went to the Staten Island ferry dock 3 months later. Had to wait for a ferry so I walked around a bit. I saw a storefront mosque, that close to where you could have seen 9/11 happening across the river, and it was **untouched.**

They have to really hunt for Jews to attack

People who haven’t been to northern Virginia recently would be astonished at the prevalence of foreign language speakers. It’s analogous to visiting a foreign country. Threatening and sad. You couldn’t pay me enough to live there.

Their hijabs are an intentional uniform to announce to the world that they are different and consider themselves to be better than their western hosts. The same could be said of Orthodox Jews.

But in my view there’s a crucial difference because unlike the wearers of the hijab, Orthodox Jews to my knowledge seldom if ever engage in efforts to coerce non-Jews or even Jews who are not Orthodox to conform to their religious beliefs or worldviews. And far as I’m aware none of them pose an existential threat to anyone!

It is astonishing how many people are either ignorant of that fact or are aware of it but simply refuse to acknowledge its significance. And not just people here but people all over the world.
The Orthodox Jews will establish their ethnic community in the place they live in. The Muslims will try to conquer you. If they haven’t done that yet, it’s only because they haven’t reached critical mass yet.
