CNN edited a headline that said Paul Kessler, whom police said was killed by a pro-Palestinian protester, "fell and hit his head."
"Arrest made in death of Jewish protester who fell and hit his head," the original headline to the story read. Police on Thursday morning arrested Loay Alnaji and charged him with manslaughter in the death of the 69-year-old Kessler, who died as a result of his injuries at a Nov. 5 protest, which saw both pro-Israel and pro-Palestinian demonstrations. The outlet updated the post Thursday afternoon with its current headline.
"Arrest made in death of Jewish protester in California after confrontation over Israel-Hamas war," the new headline reads.
Kessler lent his support to the Jewish state at the Nov. 5 event, where he became involved in an altercation with one or more pro-Palestinian protesters, one of whom is believed to be Alnaji. At least one witness said Kessler received a blow to the head with a megaphone, though police had conflicting reports. The county medical examiner ruled his death a homicide at the time.
