All but 12 House Democrats voted against Johnson’s $14.3 billion aid proposal Thursday night, with most citing the Speaker’s decision to include cuts in equal amounts to IRS funding.
The legislation is also opposed by leaders of both parties in the Senate, who want a broader package including aid to Ukraine, leaving the fate of the Israel funds in question amid escalating hostilities in Gaza almost a month after Hamas’s terrorist attacks killed more than 1,400 people.
Heading into the weekend, Johnson’s Democratic critics remained furious with the decision to combine the aid to Israel — an issue that has historically enjoyed wide bipartisan support — with a highly partisan cut to one of President Biden’s pet programs.
..
Rep. Erin Houchin (R-Ind.) said Friday when asked about the Democratic criticisms. “We are in a critical fiscal calamity right now with our spending. It is a matter of national security for the United States that our fiscal house is in such poor shape, you know, we must offset spending and that’s the mechanism we chose to use.”

Best to unbundle and to vote them seperately — just as we are always asking the Democrats to do.
GOOD!
Stick it to them, Mike.
I love good news.
Speaker Johnson’s $14.3B aid proposal includes equal amount in cuts to Biden’s pet project.....IRS funding.......and is opposed by Senate leaders of both parties, who want a broader package...... including (gag) aid to Ukraine. This leaves the fate of billions of US tax dollars to Israel unresolved.
Mmmmmm........happy days are here, again.
Frankly, I think it’s incredibly stupid of Speaker Johnson. We could get a secure Southern border. We could get actual tax cuts. We could get actual oversight of the Biden administration. And what do we go for? Increased capriciousness in the IRS tax-law enforcement.
Then, take out the IRS provisions. Call it "a clean Israel defense bill". "Clean" "immaculate", even.
Then let's see him kill that. When the House sends it over they should state it is their final attempt to pass it before the budget deadline. "We have to focus on the important work of paying America's military and retired people before we get back to mere foreign affairs".
Democrats rage???
If only Republicans felt strongly enough to rage — about anything!!!!
It is time to tell them to all f off and do what the American people want
But now with Ukraine funding at stake...things are different and Dem states are now screaming for border relief, too.
Looks like we just have to let it play out. Let's see how dumb the Dems are.
You $houldn’t take $$$$ away from Congre$$ becau$e they might get up$et.
Then announce a stand-alone Ukraine vote to be scheduled one week after the President signs the Israel bill. Otherwise no Ukraine money and no Israel money. He has good leverage to use.
Right. If Speaker Johnson wasn’t such a complete, worthless idiot, he’d’ve added HR2 (Secure the Border Act) to the aid bill. But Speaker Johnson is just another asspuppet for the establishment.
This is brilliant. He’s forcing them to support funding for the IRS, which everyone - possibly even some democrats - despise, while simultaneously exposing their tepid (at best) support for Israel.

Take away all IRS weapons. If the IRS needs armed muscle, make them beg the local sheriff for assistance. Should the sheriff say no, the IRS can send collection letters to the tardy taxpayer.
They’re squealing because they know they’ve been had.
Perfect.
Well. Toughsky shitsky. This is the way the left chose to play the “game” and it is time the right played to win by the same rules. Marquis of Queensbury be damned. Pull off the gloves and beat the living crap out of them. Obama started this and his first salvo after assuming control was, “We one, you lost.” Remember that? That is when they quit even pretending to play by any rules.
Give to one place and take double from some other. At least try to get the fiscal house in order.
Wrestling with pigs is never fun.
If the Democrats are in a rage, Johnson is obviously doing something right.
