An enraged McDonald’s customer says the fast food franchise is no longer affordable for ordinary Americans, calling the company’s contemporary prices “crazy.”
“So, I get there’s a labor shortage, I get there’s wage increases and a number of other things,” Idaho man Christopher Olive began in a viral TikTok clip, which has recently resurfaced.
“But $16? $16 for a burger, a large fry and a drink? It’s just crazy!” the flabbergasted content creator complained, panning to his itemized receipt from a McDonald’s restaurant in the city of Post Falls. The video was original posted on social media last December, but has now gone viral again after McDonald’s recently reported an increase in revenue directly influenced by a “strategic” hike in menu prices.

We can agree on that.
At DFW airport had a Wendy’s burger only, no meal nor drink. Cost 7.50 which was a thin, tasteless, lukewarm so called patty. Tasted of mayo slop more than anything else. Sucks paying good $ for such crap food too.
Exactly! My mother used to tell us kids growing up, that we didn't have to go to confession to ask God to forgive us our sins. We could speak to God ourselves. There is no need for a middle-man, if you're sincere enough. God knows if you are truly sorry for your trespasses. He doesn't need a front-man to interpret it for him.
I remember when a McDonald’s Hamburger cost 29 Cents, Fries 19 cents, small soda 10 Cents.
I got a big mac combo meal a month or two ago for Ten dollars and some cents.
Sometimes when I’m hungry and in a hurry I don’t mind too much spending ten bucks on a fast food meal, but I have noticed that in the last four or so years, Most fast food (or even chain pizza) has become somewhere between inedible to barely edible. About the only thing I still actually enjoy is McDonald’s Or Sonic’s french fries.
You can go to Denny’s and get a loaded double cheese burger and fries for under $14. And it won’t be that crappy processed beef. With a drink/ Tax/ and tip it will $20. But the difference in quantity and quality is huge. And you will get waited on.
Local Dairy Queen has burger fries and a drink with an ice cream sundae for less than $10
“Not affordable and actually always terrible.”
Yeah, open up a Big Mac and look at it...What do you see? A culinary masterpiece or a ripoff brought to you by a clown?
I only buy from the dollar menu, which is now the $2, $3, and $4 dollar menu.
If you have kids, it’s tougher to stay within budget.
Bet that’s going to put a major bite on their stock.
Not to mention the price of hamburger at Costco is $4.99 a pound, that makes 4 quarter pounders. And for people who don’t shop for groceries, they may be surprised to find the government tells a slight fib about the cost of living index.
For many years now, when I’m on the road I seek out grocery stores and eat like a king for under $10. High protein, fiber and all around nutritional balance. Lower salt and fats.
If you order on the app, you'll get discounts. Maybe you'll save $10.
Agree, and one member of this household has succumbed to those overpriced burgers. Until recently learning about Wawa burgers. Served only after 4PM, they are top notch. If you have Wawa, give their burgers a try. You can customize, including a variety of cheeses and carmelized onions.
Ain’t it the truth! Of course, McDonald’s doesn’t pay $5 a pound for hamburger, but I get your point.
I picked up mcChicken for $1.57 earlier today.
Everyday price
Friday is free fries day on the app
Yeah, I don’t have a McDonald’s app.
And yet, he paid for it!
"Flabbergasted' is incorrect. Use 'stupid' instead.
I’ve been an all natural/organic non-processed paleo diet person for decades-I cook at home except for the rare occasion when I get fried fish at the Lowe’s Market deli on the way from work-fresh catfish-not frozen, no buns, no toast no mayo, etc-just fish-I steam some veggies at home to go with it-that is healthier take-out. I don’t see how anyone can eat
McD’s or any of that frankenfood-and especially not for $16-I’d have to be starved for at least 2-3 days...
Went to local diner and had two eggs over easy, home fries, three sausages, two pieces of toast, coffee and cranberry juice. for 12.00. Fast food not worth it anymore.
