Republican Senator and Committee Vice Chair Susan Collins recently asked Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin about a New York Times report that “Iranian-backed terrorists continue to attack U.S. forces in the region.” Here is the exchange:
COLLINS: Secretary Austin, as you indicated in your opening remarks, Iranian backed terrorist proxy groups in the region have launched numerous drone and rocket attacks against our forces, U.S. forces in Syria and Iraq. According to press reports, there have been at least 20 such attacks and 19 U.S. service members have been wounded. It’s imperative that Iran and its proxy groups understand that they cannot attack American forces with impunity. I know that last week, President Biden ordered two U.S. strikes against facilities in Syria used by Iranian proxies to threaten our troops. But The New York Times has reported over the weekend that Iranian backed terrorists continue to attack U.S. forces in the region even after these airstrikes, since these U.S. airstrikes apparently have not been sufficient to deter additional attacks on our troops by Iranian backed proxies. What else is the department doing to stop attacks against American troops?
AUSTIN: Thanks. Sure. First of all, let me emphasize that the protection, the safety of our troops and our civilians is of utmost importance to me and of utmost importance to the president as well. We’ve taken a number of steps to make sure that we increase our force protection posture. We’ve deployed a number of assets into the region as well. We’ve been clear. The president’s been clear-- and I have been clear right here-- that if this doesn’t stop, then we will respond. And so we maintain the right to respond. We have the capability to do that. And we will respond at a time and place of our choosing.

Puppetmaster Obama still eyeing nuke deal (helping Iran become a nuclear power).

In the case of Syria, the U.S. is as much an invading and occupying force as the Russians are in Ukraine.
why don’t you get out if you’re even here?
If America is such an occupier. Hope you’re not bothering yourself here.
2. I belong here.
3. I never authorized anyone to send U.S. troops anywhere.
4. I'm a proud American, and I'm staying here.
It really hurts globalist tools like you to hear someone say that the U.S. isn't the benign force for good in the world that you think it is, doesn't it?
Now they've done it. That was their penultimate chance.
The administration is so confused they don’t know what to do a crew of stooges and lobbyists are out of their element.
How’s your little war to destroy Russia, dismantle it and sell it off the globohomo empire coming?
Shaking in their boots, they are.
I don’t have any war are you talking about Russia’s brutal 3 year invasion of Ukraine?
But it is worth noting that when you go on about “globohomos” I think you’re sick in your head.
You sure don’t sound like you are proud.
Maybe you and I have different ideas about what America is.
Project much? Funny you and Biden seem in perfect alignment with your foreign policy positions. That speaks volumes right there.
The US has utterly no business in Syria aside from convincing Turkey to exit the Syrian lands they illegally invaded and annexed.
Should not be their, but Trump would be bombing them, he is of the Jacksonian Foreign policy school.
“In the case of Syria, the U.S. is as much an invading and occupying force as the Russians are in Ukraine.”
100% agreed!
Trump’s approach is, “I can be your best friend, or your worst enemy...Your choice!”
I don’t agree at all with the Biden foreign policy and I don’t agree with kooks that scream about global homos like they know what they are talking about.
