A week before its attack Hamas agreed to another truce with Israel. The agreement negotiated by Qatar, Egypt and the United Nations traded an end to border attacks for more imports, a bigger fishing zone and more work permits that allowed over 20,000 Gaza Muslims to enter Israel.

Hamas ended the border riots and Israelis went into the Sukkot holiday with an apparent calm. The Israeli army and security forces continued to focus on the West Bank, where much of the violence appeared to be coming from, rather than the Gaza Strip which seemed quiet.
But the border attacks and the negotiated ceasefire had all been part of a feint.

The Japs were still negotiating on December 7th.
As I recall, Imperial Japan conducted deceptive practices prior to the attack on Pearl Harbor.
However, I doubt that reconciliations similar to those that developed between post-WWII Japan and the US will ever exist between 7th century barbarians and members of present-day societies.

Excellent article, but I wonder how much the Biden Regime helped cloak the attack preparations and failed to alert Israel of the plans or worse helped with the financing of Iran’s actions?
I know from a Marine veteran who was in on the early days of the occupation that many Japanese civilians were glad to see the end of the military dictatorship, and once they realized that American marines weren't going to barbecue their babies they became very friendly. Especially the women, who had been treated like farm animals.
That doesn't seem to happen with Muslims. Is it the inbreeding?

That’s true, but it’s also been suggested that FDR knew of the planned attack and deliberately stalled the Japanese diplomats. We’ll never know for sure.
BTW... what does a treaty/alliance/cease fire mean if one of the parties has no intention of holding to it?
I remember reading that, when the Nazis crossed he border from Poland to Russia in WWII (breaking their alliance pact with Russia), Stalin was SO stunned at the betrayal that he went into seclusion for days, without speaking to anyone... as the invasion raged.
When asked “Why was Russia unprepared?”
He answered, “Only agressors are perpared.”
