“tragic incident “
? What ... wait ... I thought it said the perp was shot and killed ?
Carjacking should be a capital offense, it is a modern equivalent of horse thieving.
No outrage? I’m guessing black officer.
We need more good gun control like that. And where the hell did good parenting ever go?.... Oh yah, the public schools are turning the kids over to following Satan! ... imho
Some bad decisions are so bad, you can only make them once.
Another LIFE OF CRIME snuffed out at such a young age.
What a tragedy for the law abiding.
Yeah, but if a civilian had shot the perp, (s)he would have been in a world of trouble. THAT is what HAS to change. No justice, no peace. Know justice, know peace.
These parents sure are steering their children in the right direction ,Oh wait ,what parents?
Then we'd see some action.
As for the punk kid involved in this case all I'll say is....gee,I can hardly hold back my tears.
“ tragic incident”?
Nope. One less creep to do it again. Thinning the herd. Sorry, Vernard, FAFO is the Code of the Jungle.
You want to know how a teenager thought this might be a good idea?
“We could’ve been superstars (superstars)
Remember when we was jackin’ cars (jackin’ cars)”
These are actual lyrics from the Super Gremlin, which hit #3 on the Billboard Hot 100, RIAA certified Platinum.
“The tragic incident”
I see nothing tragic here - think of all the future victims who will now be saved by putting this animal down.
“Tragic incident?”
Didn’t the article say the perp was killed?
I’m probably missing something in the article.

What a shame. Think of all the other ferals the 13 year old could have removed from the gene pool over the course of his short life.

Is tragedy in quotes because they are quoting the mayor, or because they’re getting real?
[Vernard Toney Jr.] was a seventh grader at Kelly Miller Middle School in Northeast D.C. He was smart, funny and talented, his principal said in a letter to families.A security camera captured a picture of Vernon's carjacking partner, who ran away.
"He had a natural comedic ability and loved to make people laugh, especially when he would joke that he was the principal of Kelly Miller MS. Vernard also loved to play basketball and spend his free time on the court with his friends,” the letter said.
Toney had been accused in a string of previous carjackings. Two sources familiar with the investigation say Toney was arrested in May in connection with a number of armed carjackings in Southeast D.C. He was 12 at the time. It wasn’t immediately clear what happened with the cases....
Acting Chief of Police Pamela Smith said she wanted to be sensitive to Toney’s grieving parents and classmates.
“He was known to the Metropolitan Police Department, and it’s just unfortunate that this particular incident happened on Saturday night that caused him to no longer be here,” she said.
He played that great and popular game FAFO and lost!
The financial side of this crime has always puzzled me.
Converting a stolen car into cash is a seriously complex problem that involves a lot of people, tools, and permanent facilities.
People involved in the car jack business get arrested all the time for other crimes, and they would immediately think about flipping information for a lighter sentence.
Are these cars being stripped down for parts? Who would buy parts in large quantities? Are they somehow recycled with a new paint job and new paperwork?
Lots of work, lots of risk, and very modest profits.
Did he independently steal the gun and then decide it would be cool to carjack?
Exactly
