Harvard/Harris Poll: Some Americans Who Describe Hamas Attacks as ‘Genocidal’ Say They Were Justified Anyway
National Review ^ | October 24, 2023 | Philip Klein

...Noah already highlighted the Harvard/Harris poll showing a slight majority of younger Americans siding with Hamas, but I wanted to flag another eye-opening finding in the survey: A statistically significant group of them who describe the October 7 attacks as “genocidal” nonetheless support them.

Specifically, when asked, “Do you think that the attacks on Jews were genocidal in nature or not genocidal?” 62 percent of respondents aged 18 to 24 said yes. However, when asked, “Do you think the Hamas killing of 1200 Israeli civilians in Israel can be justified by the grievances of Palestinians or is it not justified?” a 51 percent to 49 percent majority said the attacks were justified.

To repeat: Sixty-two percent say the attacks were genocidal, but only 49 percent say the genocide against Jews wasn’t justified.

Unfortunately, it was not limited to this age group.

Among 25- to 34-year-olds, 71 percent said the attacks were genocidal, but only 52 percent said they weren’t justified; among 35- to 44-year-olds, 72 percent said they were genocidal compared to 61 percent who said they weren’t justified.

Only after age 45 do the numbers start to become more rational, with more people saying the attacks weren’t justified than saying they were genocidal.

There are two ways to interpret this finding. One is to think there are millions of Americans who are okay with genocide against the Jews. Another explanation is that there are millions of people who don’t know what “genocidal” means.

Or, as Sonny Corleone put it, “Did you go to college to get stupid?“

The problem is that to become something a society has to be economically productive or else it has to be really good a stealing stuff from other people. This requires subordination of individual wants to the well being of the group over all. Norms arise and the society prospers. And then you decide you can start distributing free stuff and free love and no consequence everything else and voila your society collapses.

You mean like Dresden or Tokyo? Who did that?

Well, obviously it was the Israelis.

I think these POLLS, are gauges to measure how effective the propaganda machines are working. Social platforms easily pass on things that tend to justify Hamas, and squash anything that allows Israel to protect itself.

I asked one why she was such a defender of abortion rights given that no one in her circle of friends had any--as in ZERO--chance of getting pregnant. After stumbling about for an answer, she admitted she wasn't quite sure why...it just felt like the right thing to support.

And these lezbos blindly support Hamas even though the punishment for being LGBTQ+ in Gaza is 10 years in prison or worse.

Stupid questions for mush minded individuals attempting to rationalize that which is plain, clear and simple:

The simple act of war on 10/7/23 is an existential example. Israels neighbor has always proclaimed its intention to annihilate Israel, “From the River to the Sea”. It’s enshrined in their Covenant.

They proceeded to prove their intentions on 10/7/23, and that was a direct act of war. Israel responded by declaring war and are now prosecuting that war with extreme violence.

Palestine had the chance, over and over again, to live peacefully aside Israel, yet have rejected peace at every turn. Israel turned over control of Gaza to the Palestinians 17 years ago, so there is no true rationale for the attack on 10/7/23 other than pure hatred. No excuses, and those who buy into the narrative that Palestinians had the “right” to wage war are ignoring the entire historical line of events that led us to this point.

Teaching people to hate Jews seems to have always been an easy thing to accomplish all over the world.

They’re just as, if not more mentally defective than their mentors.

"This requires subordination of individual wants to the well being of the group over all."

In a more prosperous society, this becomes more voluntary. In a socialist society it is forced by government, who keeps everything you give them instead of spreading it around. It becomes a downward spiral of poverty every time.

I don't think there are many Jews at all who are surprised.

Most Jews in the U.S. vote Democratic. I'm sure they're all surprised.

I support Israel but see that continuing down this road will result in the destruction of Israel. The PR nightmare has united the entire Islamic world and a large majority of the non Islamic world against Israel.

The war in Gaza will end if Hamas releases all the hostages.

I don’t think so. The Israelis are in a hell of mess. If they continue their current coarse, which might take out the current leadership of Hamas, look at the price they will pay in PR around the world. The current coarse also allies and arrays the entire Arab world’s military against Israel, easily enough to destroy it. If they don’t continue the current coarse and swap every Hamas operative in an Israeli jail for the kidnap victims and do nothing more, they have made heroes out of and emboldened Hamas for more horrific attacks. I think the Abraham Accords are already toast. Hamas has already won regardless of how this plays out. The thousands of dead innocent Palestinians? Hamas will tell you they have 2 million more Palestinian martyrs waiting if that’s what it takes.

"Israel's government is facing a growing clamour to trade the estimated 229 hostages in Gaza for thousands of Palestinian prisoners in Israeli jails."

Here's the thing. Bibi is gone. He's here for now. But probably not six months from now. The next PM will trade prisoners from Israeli jails to release the hostages.

It was the coalition that kept him in power. He was operating with a 35% mandate when he still wore the laurels of great protector of Israel. I think Netanyahu took his eye off the ball along with Mossad operatives off the job when he went all in on Ukraine. Trying to curry favor with DC cost Israel dearly. He knows he’s a dead man walking politically. That makes him desperate and dangerous. With DC bumbling around and giving him mixed signals, Netanyahu might go for broke and try to a Hail Mary full on attack of Iran.

Nah I doubt it. He's a Patriot. So he will do what it takes for Israel to survive. He screwed up as simple as that. Unfortunately, in Israel, your enemies will make you pay if you make a mistake.

Why are they surprised, or why do they vote Democratic?

They vote Democratic because they regard a homogeneous, white Christian nation as a threat. So they encourage Third World and non-Christian immigration, and policies that subvert Christianity (abortion, gay marriage, sexually explicit entertainment.)

And after offering so much support to leftist grievance groups, Muslims, and people of color, they are surprised when they are not embraced as a fellow victims of Christian white supremecy.

Sounds like you’re saying that even though they know exactly what they’re doing, they still vote the way they do with such unrealistic expectations. I want to give them more credit than that, but it kinda does lead me to believe that like so many other Democrats, they’re just smart in a bad way.
