New US House speaker says Ukraine, Israel funding request should be split

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -Newly elected U.S. Speaker of the House Mike Johnson said on Thursday that funding to support Ukraine and Israel should be handled separately, suggesting he will not back President Biden's $106 billion aid package for both countries.

Johnson, who was speaking in an interview on Fox News, said he met with Biden on Thursday and said he told White House staff "our consensus among House Republicans is we need to bifurcate those issues."

Biden wants Congress to provide $106 billion in supplemental funding, with the bulk of the money going to bolster Ukraine's defenses and the remainder split among Israel, Indo-Pacific and border enforcement.

Bottom line is that right now, we have better things to spend our dwindling amount of money on than sending aid to a corrupt non-ally to fight off a possibly more corrupt neighbor. We can talk about Ukraine funding after the border is actually secured...

All $$$ and aid stop with Ukraine. The reason it’s been on going is Biden took millions $$$ from those countries in his money collecting days, and this has been his pay back. Why has congress gone along with it?! Is it in our interest to get involved with Ukraine and Russia?

No, I haven’t. ATACMS and other current US front line stuff has been photographed and documented as having been sent to and is currently in Ukraine. Other countries sent ‘mostly old junk’ - including especially the Germans, who actually sent MANPADS that were so old and decayed that they were a danger to the users.

If we are going to spend money somewhere to prevent Russian expansion, it should be in Poland. We are allied to them by treaty and we should be reinforcing *them*.

We can’t police the world with a government of a senile president and corruption in every dept.. A government aimed at the citizens.. A government that opened the border and an invasion that consists of terrorists.. A government spending the US into the poor house.. A government so far removed from the people.. And with all that, a military and a nation, leaderless and lawless.

And a congress doing nothing to fix any of the above.

I have lived a long time.. Have never seen this country so in trouble as we are today.
My father, my brother and my husband all served the country.. I have grandsons I do not want to see them have to serve what I described above. They have sold my country for the all mighty dollar and for power they have no right to.

Treason is serious.. All the safe guards have been overrun.. Courts, judges, congress.. Government.. Are taking freedom from citizens.. The younger generations do not recognize what is being done.. And the media are all in that bucket.

We, as a country, are not prepared for any war anywhere.. And we are trillions in debt.

The last 3 years have been destruction from within. I am fed up with absolute stupidity.. Seeing my country go from greatness to third rate.

Policing the world is out of the question with democrats in charge.. Their hatred for Trump has damaged everything they touch. They have lost caring for my country.
