New money follows $200K the senator's campaign sent to family's nonprofit this year.
...
The institute was established by Sanders' wife, Jane, and his stepson, David Driscoll, six years ago as a think tank to elevate progressive mouthpieces. However, the group has appeared to perform very little work while paying Driscoll six figures worth of compensation.
...
"The facts present in this case and the family ties involved certainly raise legitimate concern," Kendra Arnold, executive director of the Foundation for Accountability and Civic Trust, previously told Fox News Digital. "Obviously, a senator is not allowed to use his campaign to simply transfer large sums of money to family members – regardless of the route the dollars take."
...
if nothing or very little is being done to earn the money legitimately, then it is highly likely a serious campaign finance violation has taken place."
...
The group's latest publicly available tax forms from 2021 show the nonprofit disbursed nearly 40% of its contributions to salaries while seemingly performing minimal work and having rare identifiable achievements.
In 2021, the institute raised nearly $717,000 and moved $257,000 into wages, including $152,653 in salary and other compensation to Driscoll, its executive director.
...
This election cycle is also not the first time Sanders' campaign helped bolster his family's nonprofit. In 2021, his presidential committee transferred $350,000 to the institute.
The cash accounted for nearly half of the $716,000 it raised that year when it put close to 40% of its donations toward salaries and Sanders' stepson collected slightly more than $150,000 in pay.

How is this not illegal?.....................
It is illegal... but only if YOU try it!
Ole Bernie has certainly embraced his “form” of socialism: getting rich with other peoples’ money. It’s the Washington form of “the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow”.
We, the people, demand laws that outlaw elected and appointed govt
officials having “foundations” and other Clintonesque get-rich-quick schemes.
Draining that account before he finally retires, I guess. Although nobody retires from Congress anymore — from their cold, dead hands, as they say.
Who woulda thunk it!
Socialism is very good for the Inner Circle.
The laws only apply to right wing white nationalist conspiracy theorists.
Glorious socialist revolutionaries are exempt.
Forward comrades!

From what I have heard, this is done ALL THE TIME.
It’s basically standard practice for family members of career politicians to either be involved their own non-profits or other NGO, or to have one formed basically for them so that they draw income from it, or work as a ‘consultant’, or get into the boardrooms of all kinds of private sector institutions and rake it in.
It’s not just family members. It used to be laughable how often DC politicians ended up getting cushy jobs with Wall Street entities after they retired. These days, it’s more like silicon valley and other entities like the green energy sector, with corporations popping up to get people rich, and then go bankrupt after taking (b)millions from the government.
The government doesn’t work for you!
The private sector exists to serve and bolster the government.
I bet the IRS will be all over this! NOT.
Oh gosh, I’m starting a nonprofit. I’ll give Bernie props; he’s a grade A grifter.
The rules aren’t for democrats.
But there’s a reason. There’s a reason. There’s a reason for this, there’s a reason education sucks, and it’s the same reason that it will never, ever, ever be fixed. It’s never gonna get any better. Don’t look for it. Be happy with what you got.
Because the owners of this country don’t want that. I’m talking about the real owners now, the real owners, the big wealthy business interests that control things and make all the important decisions. Forget the politicians. The politicians are put there to give you the idea that you have freedom of choice. You don’t. You have no choice. You have owners.
They own you. They own everything. They own all the important land. They own and control the corporations. They’ve long since bought and paid for the senate, the congress, the state houses, the city halls, they got the judges in their back pockets and they own all the big media companies so they control just about all of the news and information you get to hear.
They got you by the balls. They spend billions of dollars every year lobbying, lobbying, to get what they want. Well, we know what they want. They want more for themselves and less for everybody else, but I’ll tell you what they don’t want: They don’t want a population of citizens capable of critical thinking. They don’t want well informed, well educated people capable of critical thinking. They’re not interested in that. That doesn’t help them. Thats against their interests. Thats right.
They don’t want people who are smart enough to sit around a kitchen table to figure out how badly they’re getting f____d by a system that threw them overboard 30 f___ing years ago. They don’t want that. You know what they want? They want obedient workers. Obedient workers. People who are just smart enough to run the machines and do the paperwork, and just dumb enough to passively accept all these increasingly s___tier jobs with the lower pay, the longer hours, the reduced benefits, the end of overtime and the vanishing pension that disappears the minute you go to collect it, and now they’re coming for your Social Security money. They want your retirement money. They want it back so they can give it to their criminal friends on Wall Street, and you know something? They’ll get it. They’ll get it all from you, sooner or later, ‘cause they own this f___ing place. It’s a big club, and you ain’t in it.

Sanders crime family.
Greed, power and money is the reason most maggots become politicians.
Sanders is an important Democrat and knows he is immune from prosecution.
I believe you are right about that.
The politicians of which I complain are definitely not at the top of the food chain. In fact, they closest they get to the real power is when they get those jobs in Wall Street or Silicon Valley after they leave public office. Those positions are mostly symbolic and a thank you for having served the interests of the real elite, or meant to utilize their contacts in order to better lobby the government for those ‘elite’, but those politicians are actually closer to sniffing the backside of the elites when they get those jobs, hoping they can become real power broker fat-cats themselves some day, though really they were always just pawns. We who haven’t sold our souls aren’t even pawns. We don’t even get moved around they chess board like they do.
Senate members take a bow.
