House speaker fight: The real reason why Kevin McCarthy still hasn't been replaced.
Fox News ^ | 10.22.2023 | Christopher Bedford

Posted on 10/22/2023 7:06:21 AM PDT by Carriage Hill

Republican infighting in the House of Representatives since the ouster of Speaker Kevin McCarthy two weeks ago isn't so much creating dysfunction as it is exposing dysfunction. Over the past 10 months, strange coalitions have been built and dispersed, candidates have risen and fallen, and private animosities have burst into public view. While the D.C. legacy media press has proven itself incapable of explaining any of the above (see: its description for the "hard right coalition" of Reps. Matt Gaetz, Nancy Mace and Ken Buck), the squabbling has clarified just how cracked up the Republican Party truly is.

"There's more going on inside the Republican Party over the House speaker fight than many Americans understand."

It's a typical dysfunctional RINO-circlefest in a well-lubricated sleeping bag.

Better than the alternative of passing lousy legislation.

Hilarious that they include Nancy Mace in the “hard right” group. I believe she is pro-abortion. Her constituency is about 50/50, so she straddles a fence most of the time.

In her recent hard right vote, she said she did it because she was tired of being lied to by McCarthy.

At some point a divorce seems inevitable. There will be a MAGA party and the Republican party will be a hollow shell.

Democrats have divisions, but it seems like whenever they really need to, they circle the wagons. My speculation as to why Republicans can’t do the same thing is because they’re not as ideologically committed to advancing conservatism as Democrats are with socialism.

Republicans (Conservatives) are individualists.
Democrats are collectivists.

I would really like to see an ideological party with just a handful of principles — immigration, budget balancing, state control of abortion (with a preference within the state of a state-wide restriction), no wars, economic emphasis on America First.

Politicians who deviate from the core platform should get no money or support from the national party.

Stand for something.

Perhaps for the short term, and long term be prepared for Speaker Hakeem.

Difficult for me to argue with this article's basic theme...“Follow the money” should probably replace “E Pluribus Unum” in the stinking morass that has become American politics over many years.

Why didn’t the eight geniuses who started this understand that these divisions would make it impossible to put Humpty back together again?
1) Stupid?
2) Lacking situational awareness and foresight?
3) Vindictive/angry?
4) ambitious?
5) Yes.

Unfortunately, you would have a very regional party if even that, certainly a minority one.

Since FDR accelerated under LBJ the public has been trained to expect their time at the taxpayer trough. Whichever gaggle of politicians can get them there an electoral majority will support.
