New York’s leaders are doubling down in their fight against gas stoves.
A vocal group of legislators, doctors and scientists is imploring Gov. Kathy Hochul to pass the NY Home Energy Affordable Transition Act — just months after Hochul’s controversial move to ban gas stoves, furnaces and propane heating in new residential buildings in the Empire State.
During a virtual press conference this week, the agitated assemblage presented a report bolstering the argument against any kind of gas-powered appliances, period.
A bill floated by the group would effectively allow the decommission of natural gas pipelines and plants and expedite the transition away from using natural gas for heating or cooking in all New York homes, according to Gothamist.
The proposed legislation passed the Senate 39-23, but did not successfully pass in the Assembly, where it is back in committee with 71 co-sponsors, per the website.

The press release from the leftist group Concerned Health Professionals of NY and Physicians for Social Responsibility includes quotes from their fellow travelers in the NYS legislature. Dem peoples is crazy! I am so glad we're out of New York.
Those bass turds aren’t getting my Coleman lantern!
Liberal RAT laws ALWAYS sound like a good idea until the first time somebody has to enforce them.
Turn the gas/oil/propane off at the Criminal Hideout in Albany as a test for the plan.
Let Hochul and all the rest freeze their sparse TaTas off.
Criminals all.
You can shop around for cheaper fuel. They have ensured you can never shop around for cheaper electricity. Coincidence?
Amen. Ditto our Coleman stove. How do folks cook otherwise when the power does out? We have a generator now but that’s a recent addition.
The cost of living in New York, high already, is going to sky rocket. These people are health nuts. They probably still wear masks.
They can also.turn you off 1000 miles away, whereas they would need a gas technician onsite to turn your gas off.
Well, if doctors and scientists say so …
Chinese Communist Party is having a good laugh , their plan worked and now more Gas for them
WTF WITH MORE THAN A 90 IQ WOULD THINK THIS IS A GOOD IDEA?
This crap is for MORONS!
Actually I think this DOESN’T sound like a good law. It’s garbage and climate wacko insanity from the get go.
You can't maintain pressurize in gas lines in newer areas without over-pressurizing pipes that are leaking in older areas.
It's all-or-nothing and since they're broke, they're choosing nothing.
Just got a stash of mantels. Stock up!
If the New Yawkers want to ban something they need to ban those huge, Democrat, banana boat mail in ballot dumpsters. Talk about eyesores. Just think of how many homeless people are heartbroken after breaking into the dumpster only to find nothing but a bunch of worthless RAT ballots. The least the RATs can do is request their voters attach a jelly donut or baloney sandwich to each ballot they toss in the dumpster.
—”Just got a stash of mantels. Stock up!”
A close-out sale on the old radioactive thorium mantels?
As long as all the restaurants in NYC convert first to electric from gas stoves, I’m good with it. But as we all know, they will get exemptions while the people get screwed.

My hundred-year-plus house had an almost as old underground gas pipes owned by the utility company.
Some years back a plastic liner was installed inside the main pipe and a new yellow plastic line was run to the house pulling with the old pipe.
One hole near the street and a small hole under the meter and pulled the new line from the house to the main for the connection.
It was a quick process.
