New — A senior House GOP member told me he has spoken to 20 members ready to vote against Jordan and block him on the floor.
Jordan has had positive conversations and pushing for TUESDAY vote, another source saysGOP meeting Monday.
“We can’t reward this behavior,” member says

They will do the same thing that happened in the Texas House.
Elect a R in name only as speaker, with ALL the D’s voting in one block and a fraction of the R’s.
Watch it happen.
The leader of this pac of dirt balls is the house Lunatic Mike Rogers rino from Alabama.
They're not: they're just divided between the RINOs in safe seats with support of the donor class and a smaller faction of conservatives.
Frankly, I'd be happy if the House fails to pass any bills, since all they do is fund despotism and an exploding Federal debt.
For example, since Mayorkas holds the border open and refuses to enforce the law, why isn't DHS just defunded (and TSA)? Why are the communist propaganda networks at PBS and NPR still funded? Why are ULA and Starliner still funded after billions in delays instead of just hiring SpaceX? Why are we funding drag shows in Ecuador? The list goes on and on.
F the GOP they are dead to me. Don’t donate to the RNC.
“You seem to be very good at giving up.”

You seem to have a high tolerance for failure. I don’t. Do you buy products that don’t perform as advertised? The GOP rarely, if ever, does.
It appears Mike Rogers is the only name. We need the vote to find out the rest.

That’s the ridiculous wigman who was trying to fight with Matt Gaetz.
The Notorious WIG
Excellent post. Your examples are spot on.
Well done.
Meanwhile, there are 18 (I believe) Republican House members representing districts that Biden won in 2020.
Do the math. This is a recipe for chaos and discord when the GOP has such a narrow majority in the House.
“Why are Republicans such idiots?”
*************
Could it be because they have no core principles, beliefs or convictions? To paraphrase an old saying, a party that stands for nothing will fall for everything.

That is certainly true, however some of this is on McCarthy for backtracking on his commitments and for going along with a ridiculous notion that any member of the conference could, at any time, launch a motion to vacate the chair. That was not a good thing to go along with, under any circumstances. And now here we are in this hot mess. There’s plenty of blame to around. Just saying.
“(2) Constitutional/conservative party that includes about the other half of Republicans.”
i read an interview with a Hill staffer who said half the Repub are Swamp from the start. And the half who start out ok get seriously compromised within a few years.
So I think 25 percent at most.
“...going along with a ridiculous notion that any member of the conference could, at any time, launch a motion to vacate the chair. “
McCarthy went along with it in order to get the Speaker’s Chair.
It just shows he does whatever is easiest in the short term regardless of the long term consequences.
Would not surprise me. In fact think you are likely correct. Maybe I was being too optimistic.
Will the Republicans ever be able to get their act together ? Doesn’t look like it.
Thank you. You understand him perfectly.
He should have refused to go along with it on the basis of the harm it could do to the institution and the problematic issues that could arise for the country as a whole. There is no way he should have gone along with such a risky notion.
But he did, and in so doing put himself above the interests of the institution and country. His election was all that mattered to him.
It's an ignorant position IMO.
No further funding to military, etc. Burners will be burners.

They all get what’s known as Potomac Fever. Being in DC is a heady and intoxicating experience and most of them succumb to its “charms”. The ‘seat’ to represent the people quickly morphs into a self-serving career.
A few Rinos will ally with the Democrats and they will select a speaker.
