North Carolina Republicans in the state legislature overrode Democratic Gov. Roy Cooper’s vetoes on two election integrity bills, passing the bills into law.
On Tuesday, the Republican-controlled North Carolina state legislature overrode Cooper’s vetoes on Senate Bills 747 and 749, The Carolina Journal reported. The House overrode the vetoes of both bills 72-44 and the Senate followed suit, 30-19.
SB 747 requires absentee ballots to be received by Election Day and bans Zuckbucks — the injection of private money into public election administration. SB 749 splits the appointments of the state Board of Elections between the state legislature majority and minority party leaders. Previously, the governor would make the appointments on the recommendations of the two largest state parties and choose his own tie-breaker.
In August, when Cooper vetoed the bills, he claimed that Republicans were being racist with passing SB 747, saying, “If you are black or brown, Republicans really don’t want you to vote.”

The beauty is, we now control the state supreme court after tossing 2 Democrat judges in each of the last two elections. So drawing congressional districts to benefit Democrats “cuz racism” and throwing out election integrity laws passed by statewide referendum as well as opposing any and all election integrity laws “cuz racism” are OUT!
Mark Robinson will very likely be the next Governor. I was glad to vote for him for Lt. Governor and he won despite Soros dumping a ton of money into his Democrat opponent’s campaign.
His competition for the Governorship will be state AG Josh Shapiro. Robinson is extremely likely to win that race. I know I’ll be voting for him.
Don’t forget: dead, moved out of state, senile or completely nonexistent.

I’m actually next door in Georgia, but try to keep up with the politics of the neighboring Carolinas.
From what I’ve heard, he has done an excellent job as Lt. Governor and has a great shot at being elected Governor next year. Cooper has been in office since 2017 and is limited to two consecutive terms by law, so he is definitely out. NC’s primary is on March 5 and the GOP candidates are:
Lieutenant Governor Mark Robinson;
former state Senator Andy Wells;
Former U.S. Representative Mark Walker;
current State Treasurer Dale Folwell;
and retired health plan CEO Jesse Thomas.
I believe Robinson is considered the front-runner, and given the “hit” pieces the democrat media is publishing against him, I’m assuming he has a pretty good chance of winning the nomination and then the Governor’s seat. Robinson is a big critic of public education and the media is just horrified that he supports home-schooling, school vouchers and school choice. He is well-liked in the conservative community and seems to be always willing to listen to his constituents.
