It will now be easier for Israelis to carry firearms for self-defense in the wake of the worst terror attack in the nation’s history.
Israeli Minister of National Security Itamar Ben-Gvir announced on Sunday he has ordered officials responsible for issuing gun licenses to broaden its standards. As the death toll inflicted by terror group Hamas grew to over 600, Ben-Gvir said he wants more Israelis to be able to legally arm themselves.
“Today I directed the Firearms Licensing Division to go on an emergency operation in order to allow as many citizens as possible to arm themselves,” he posted, according to a Google translation. “The plan will take effect within 24 hours.”
The policy change comes after Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israelis that saw terrorists carry out the brutal murder and mutilation of men, women, and children. Many more were injured or kidnapped. Israel has declared war on Hamas and begun carrying out airstrikes in Gaza, but it remains unclear if all of the terror group’s fighters have even been expelled from the towns they ransacked at this point.
The move to arm Israeli civilians in the wake of a vicious invasion mirrors that of the Ukranian government last year. As the Russian Army approached Kyiv last February, the government distributed 10,000 rifles to civilians hoping to stem the tide. The Ukrainian Army, bolstered by civilian resistance, eventually pushed Russians away from their capital city.

Hmmmm. So, week after the phone interview, you might be “allowed” to carry. Not good enough!
🇮🇱👍
Israel has the support of their government to arm & protect themselves, while we in the U.S. have to fight our government to arm & protect ourselves every single day.
Let that sink in.
The first rule of a gun fight is have a gun. So take what you have.
That said, concealed is often better, for surprise and social reasons.
And Glocks, in general, while an absolutely fantastic handgun, are mediocre for concealed carry for a lot of people. (Some live them.)
Me, I had one slip out of my holster and drop down in the crack of doom between my front seat and the console in my car. I was scared to death the damn thing was going to fire when I fished it out.
Opted for a Ruger with an manual safety.
Options reasonably differ here.
Remember when the Ukies were practicing with cardboard rifles...cuz people there were only allowed to buy guns for hunting...though I believe that changed.
Israel Weapon Industries makes excellent firearms for the US civilian market. Hopefully they’ll have the same opportunity in their own country.
A reminder that Israels population of about 9.4 million are not all of the Jewish faith.
That 9.4 million includes about 1.9 million muslims.
That’s more than 1 0ut of 5.
And many have clearly demonstrated their hate of Israelis and their solidarity with muslim terrorists like Hamas and Hezbollah.
The USA doesn’t have anywhere near that high a percentage of death-cult muslims yet but RINOs and America hating democrats
have been doing their best to fill that gap.
Exactly, and exactly what I suspected would happen. Good luck trying to find good firearms now. And good luck trying to find ammo.
This is what happens when a country is taken over by leftists. Tragically too late for them, but yes, thank God our inalienable right to self defense is enshrined in our Constitution.
Israel got got with their pants down as we did on 9/11. Civilian ownership of military weapons chambered in NATO configuration is critical for a free state. How they fell into this way of thinking is beyond reason.
I’m surprised there wasn’t a 5 mile deep minefield.
In Israel the firearm wasn't on you, it was in storage at a range with the government controlling the key. They just unlocked them all, which is fine but not for the ones already dead. It dismays me that of all of the societies in all of the world to fall for the "turn in your guns, the government will keep you safe" trap, Israel should have been the very last. And it's sobering to realize that the Dems have been busy importing a new population of military-age males with absolutely no control over who they are or what they want, just as fast as they can.
Every israeli citizen able bodied adult and minor above age 14 should be required to be armed.
Quite shocking to find out about how Israel’s government had disarmed the citizens and made them sitting ducks, surrounded by savages and barbarians.
Even if Israel’s Supreme Court doesn’t overrule him, Israel’s depraved permanent bureaucracy won’t obey. Count on it.
The [Israeli] government started implementing gun control for "safety", and look where they are today.
Hiding in their homes with no weapons to defend themselves
Ther are a number of blue states in which the second might as well not exist. Places where it is nearly impossible for the unconnected to obtain a carry permit. Like New Jersey.
about time
Reiterating post #34.
You forgot "may issue", they still need a good reason to obtain an handgun.
Frankly, I am surprised the citizens in Israel are stupid enough to tolerate these kind of restrictions , especially after surviving the Holocaust, and being under constant threat of terrorist attacks or invasion.
It seems to me that while Bebe Netanyahu and his buds know which end of the weapon to point at the muzztards Israel has its own BIG problems with an entrenched Deep State just like we do. Who needs terrorists when your own government is your enemy?
The left knows ty9s truth. They want the public disarmed so that when the jack booted ANTI-FA thugs come to get ordinary Americans, loot to take their property, rape ther daughters and commit arson. they cannot be stopped.
NOw if y9u live in a high control state or municipality, you need to do everytihng you can to arm yourself and store a large quantity of ammunition.Think rifle, shotgun and pistol.Teach your entopre family how to shoot accurately.
In most red states the thugs will not likely be aboe to reach your neighborhood, but its always good to be good and ready for the many cross b0rder illegal aliens who can come for you.
The HAVE gun laws in Israel? What? I would think that over there getting a gun would be as easy as buying a cellphone
