Presidential candidates Cornel West and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. shared differing statements on the attacks on Israel this weekend.
Both West, who is running as an independent, and Kennedy Jr., who is seeking the Democratic nomination, uploaded statements after the deadly attacks on Saturday, October 7.
In a Saturday post shared on X, formerly Twitter, West said: "The escalation of the barbaric violence in the Middle East must stop. The vicious Israeli occupation and the ugly Palestinian retaliation results in the killing of precious innocent people on both sides. We must have a lasting peace based on justice! #TruthJusticeLove."

Yeah, Saudi Arabia is a key player in the region, and a peace deal with Israel would be a major change. There’s no way those negotiations can proceed while Israel is at war.
I know some people have theorized there were additional people involved--but Sirhan was caught redhanded on the spot.
“Kennedy Jr., who has previously publicly stated his support for Israel, said in an October 7 X post: “This ignominious, unprovoked, and barbaric attack on Israel must be met with world condemnation and unequivocal support for the Jewish state’s right to self-defense. We must provide Israel with whatever it needs to defend itself—now.””
Lurking over at DU for their take on this attack, there's a whole bunch of "whataboutism" going on over there.
The Democrats' progressive base definitely agrees with Cornel West on this issue.
What happened to the $80,000,000,000 of US Military equipment Biden gave the Taiban?
There is gear to equipment an army right there.
Biden spokes people Sunday morning and the hosts were in agreement to claim Unity and make non-news any opinion other than praise of the Biden response.

Thanks - they DESPISE Israel. They despise a lot: Trump, Trump Voters, Russia, (whatever else they’re instructed to despise), etc.
So, Cornell is CLEARLY hitting a Pressure Point over there. Interesting that RFK Jr. stayed clear - I’m thinking what others here are thinking, that his objective is to peel off Trump voters.
I’m sure they do. This is definitely going to hurt RFK Jr. Giving money is one thing, all administrations do because Israel is defending our interests in the region. But Biden can still criticize. To not peak out on issues that deeply divide Israelis themselves, such as judicial reform, is a problem. When candidates back themselves into a corner voters deserve an explanation.
The Deep State is never going to let RFK, Jr., become President. Who is he kidding?
