On Saturday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Fox News Live,” Israeli Ambassador to the U.N. Gilad Erdan said the Hamas attack on Israel that happened on the Jewish holiday of Shemini Atzeret, the final day of the annual High Holy Day cycle, “is our 9/11” and “we said, since the Holocaust, where Jews were butchered and massacred, never again. And never again is today,” Erdan also argued that when Israel withdrew from Gaza, Hamas turned the Gaza Strip into “a war machine. We cannot allow this situation of Gaza as a war machine to continue. And we are committed, starting from today, to change the equation. We won’t have another 9/11.”
Erdan stated that while he won’t share military plans publicly, “[F]rom now on, we are committed to [using] every means at our disposal to restore our deterrence, and to exact from these animals a heavy price.” And “All options today are on the table. … This is our 9/11. We are committed to [changing] the equation, to shatter the old paradigm. These animals will pay a heavy price. And they will learn that these atrocities cannot be committed again against our civilians.”

Bush did not want to declare war on Islam, just the terrorists. Imagine the blowback if he had phrased his statement you wish he had.
It definitely will come (regardless) /preaching to the choir
You mean in Gaza? Israel cut their power.
The Godless Reprobate United Nations awaits their Antichrist
“Strongly worded. Sounds like tanks are rolling.”
Israel always backs up their strongly worded letters with action.
That may be the Israeli side being shown.
Gaza is in darkness. IDF has been using flares for hours for a possible ground initiative.
If PDJT was still in office, none of this would be happening. Stolen elections have consequences.
> Imagine the blowback if he had phrased his statement you wish he had. <
No disrespect meant to you. I sincerely mean that. But as far as the blowback, too f’ing bad. FDR didn’t pull any punches after Pearl Harbor. He correctly identified the enemy as the Empire of Japan. It wasn’t just a few warmongers within that empire.
After 9/11 Bush II chose another direction. Let’s give Islam a break. Ignore that every last terrorist was a Muslim. Ignore that a root belief of Islam is that all infidels must either convert or die.
FDR forced Japan and Germany to abandon their sick beliefs. It took blood and sacrifice, but FDR and his allies got the job done.
On the other hand, Bush II left Islam off the hook almost entirely. And so that sick belief thrives today. We needed an FDR after 9/11. Instead we got a Neville Chamberlain.
Actually, I don’t care about the Temple. Jesus IS the new Temple. As He said, they will tear it down but it will raise again in 3 days.
The physical temple of Solomon is gone to history and has been superseded by the New Covenant in Christ Jesus.
And yes, as a Christian, I do not believe in Islam, and consider it to be of the Great Deceiver—Satan.
Yes
Sorry Ferris, but I’m an Unbeliever. The biblical stuff doesn’t work for me. I just don’t buy it.
Mr. Ambassador, where the left resides in your government there you will find treason.
I can’t wait for “the Squad” and other leftists and Marxists lecture us on how Gaza is being mistreated.
Should be interesting what that nasty Rashida Talib and her cohort Illan Omar will say.
You are not being crazy.
Well past time for Israel to take back the Gaza Strip, the West Bank & Golan Heights.
In modern warfare, it doesn’t matter if a fixed target is illuminated or not. Lighting can also help spot infiltrators and blind some night vision systems.
The days of blackouts making a difference ended with satellite observation and long distance night vision.
Sometimes their ‘strongly worded letters’ are *delivered* by a tank or warplane. :P
Your opinions have some validity when you put all Islam in one bucket. You cannot put all Baptists in one bucket, nor all Mormons, nor all Catholics. No religion follows all its doctrine. You also miss the important point that we were not attacked by a nation, which is used in your supporting arguments. We were attacked by a small religious faction, not the religion writ large.
Bush had to identify the specific targets of the upcoming war, not all of Islam as much of academia and the leftists world desired. Imagine if he said Islam is our enemy. We would have had attacks on embassies and military installations all around the world. It would also nullify our belief in freedom of religion.
It’s OK
I suppose we will have to agree to disagree on this. True, Islam is not a nation-state as Imperial Japan was. But Islam has a unified belief system just like a nation-state would have. There is some disagreement within that belief system. But the core principles are generally agreed upon.
Islam must triumph. Death to those who slander the Prophet. Infidels must convert or die.
Again, these are core beliefs! They are not just the beliefs of some minority within Islam. Those beliefs are Islam.
Bush II chose to ignore this. As you noted, to do otherwise would have caused great strife.
I see an analogy here. In 1938 Neville Chamberlain chose to ignore Nazi aggression. To do otherwise would have caused great strife. Better to seek accommodation Chamberlain thought, and look the other way. The world payed dearly for that decision.
And likewise we will pay dearly for Bush II’s decision.
You will probably disagree, and I respect that.

LR
