Is Matt Gaetz a hero or a villain?
The camera-loving Republican from Florida who threatened to shut down the government and who masterminded the ousting of Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday has made more than a few enemies in Congress.
He doesn’t care; he represents a district in Florida that hasn’t gone Democrat in decades and that went for former President Trump in 2020 by 68% to 29%. That means that in 2018, for instance, election gurus gave him 99% odds of being reelected, even though his approval rating was a dismal 20% -- worse than Joe Biden.

Remains to be seen.
The cage is rattled and the squawking is beautiful.
The never-Trumpers speak.
So you can’t be pro Trump and think ousting McCarthy without a plan B was a mistake? Trump endorsed McCarthy.
He removed a uniparty leader who was making things worse.
McCarthy said in his speech last night that the next Speaker needs to change the rules, get rid of the rule allowing for one person to call to vacate.
He agreed to that as the 20 MAGA pubbies had him over a barrel and he wanted the Speakership at any cost.
Well, it sure cost him but he should have kept his word and he would still be Speaker.
missed an o in too p
So did those Republicans who help the Democrats oust him have a plan to replace him????
HERO!
Hero for now.
And would those members from swing districts have voted for Impeachment anyway? If they are scared off by the inquiry they can’t be counted on when it really matters. Gaetz is a hero.
I knew that the motion had been filed... I knew the vote was coming... and when I first heard that they actually voted him out, I was like WOW!... How they do that???... Do we actually have HOPE NOW???
I thought I heard in initial reporting that the reason they were able to pull it off was that 16 democrats had sided with republicans to take him down... and knowing the vote count, I was left with the conclusion that approximately 200 republicans voted for his removal.
Obviously I didn’t hear it right... it was 16 republicans plus 200 democrats that removed him.
This is deeply saddening. It shows us where we truly are in our ability to stop the democrats.
Yes... Matt Gaetz is a hero! But the only victory I see is the exposure of truth to republican voters that RINOS DOMINATE the republican party.
Because of Jan 6, I pretty much had zero hope that this congress could do anything to reverse this country’s demise.
With this much republican support for McCArthy, I now have even less.
They always had and would have had the upper hand.
Sunlight is the best disinfectant.
Gaetz used the weapon he had, the truth, to spotlight their double dealing & put them on notice. The fear of further revelations is the strongest weapon Americans have in the fight to cleanse the swamp.
Here is my simple explanation for why some Republicans seem willing to prioritize honorable defeat over dishonorable victory, paraphrasing Victor Davis Hanson’s recent observation that “Republicans would rather lose nobly than win nastily.” Many so-called RINOs (Republicans In Name Only) are dues-paying members of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, which has always maintained that, as a 501(c)(4) organization, it works with and supports both political parties to advance its agenda.
“Say adios to the impeachment inquiry”.
What impeachment inquiry? McCarthy had the Committees on a tight lease.
"I'd like to tap that ass!"
She like the white meat.
He’s our AOC.
