Is Matt Gaetz a hero or a villain?
The camera-loving Republican from Florida who threatened to shut down the government and who masterminded the ousting of Speaker Kevin McCarthy on Tuesday has made more than a few enemies in Congress.
He doesn’t care; he represents a district in Florida that hasn’t gone Democrat in decades and that went for former President Trump in 2020 by 68% to 29%. That means that in 2018, for instance, election gurus gave him 99% odds of being reelected, even though his approval rating was a dismal 20% -- worse than Joe Biden.

We won’t know for a couple weeks. If the GOP can come up with a replacement who is credible then he’s a hero. If not then he’s a villain.

This was a bitch-slap for the CR.
You can either go with the status quo and continue the inexorable path to financial ruin, or grow a pair and reduce the size of government.
This will never happen under usual conditions. The status quo from dems and rinos is to let it grow and never curtail spending (other than to reduce a proposed increase that just nets an increase).
Unfortunately, the only way to get congressmen out of this “default” position is to shutdown the government and not blink until a reduction is achieved.
McCarthy didn’t fight for that so he’s out.
There is a silver lining to vacating the chair of the Speaker of the House... It puts future Speakers on notice that their position is not guaranteed and that they really need to work with both the minority members of their own party and with the other party. They also need to be careful what they promise, and they need to keep their promises. All good things.
In my opinion McCarthy warranted removal. Not so much for working with the Democrats per se (that’s part of being Speaker) but for violating the agreement he had made about how he was going to govern, including not bringing individual budget bills to a vote.
If the house ends up doing nothing, we are better off than status quo.
How do you know Gaetz doesn’t have a plan?

McCarthy was promised by Nasty that she would have his back but did you see her run back to DC from CA when he needed her?
I think McCarthy letting Nasty keep her cushy office when it should have been his tells you who was leading who.
Little interim bow-tie Speaker threw her butt out as soon as he got the gavel.

McCarthy was a useless as tits on a boar. “If a tree falls in the forest does it make a sound”?
The problem FRiend is that his commitment to his Uniparty was more important than the commitment it made to the voters.
The GOP has nothing to offer it’s voters. RATs thrive on holding power. Repukes thrive on money. Repukes are servants to RATs because that is how they make money.
The GOP needs to go the way of the whigs. Political parties are boils filled with greed and corruption.
They need to die.
The article is BS. I say this because Gaetz and others have tried to rein in spending and McCarthy and the Turtle prevent it. Why, because as all else in DC it is party over Country. No RAT or RINO gives two $hites about what we are going through. They are buying votes and power. In the end Gaetz is no better or worse than any of the others, he is a politician. He says and does what conservatives expect and gives lip service to the MAGA crowd. He is the Paul Ryan, Trey Gowdy or Newt of the moment. All beloved at one point before they left us standing at the altar. Soon he will disappoint voters and we will realize we have been screwed again. We are no longer a government of the people for the people. We are an oligarchy and we have government of the elite for the oligarchs.
