It’s confirmed. Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), booted as the Speaker of the House of Representatives today, will not run again for his former office. The gavel will be passed onto someone who can obtain 218 votes at some point within the next few days without going multiple rounds with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and his posse.

Jim Jordan. Hands down. He’s said he doesn’t want the job. Can’t blame him
Imagine Trump when he’s potus, again, with JJ as soth
I guess it’s good that Matt Gaetz called Kevin McCarthy out on it. We didn’t even get any concessions. The difference was that this time is that Gaetz had the critical mass in the Freedom Caucus and the RINOs couldn’t do anything to stop him this time.
Checklist defending McCarthy doing Biden’s bidding:

LA Senator Bill Cassidy ✅
Speech possibility: I served 269 days as Speaker.
Came short of the 7 presidencies and leadership from 2007 to 2011 and 2019 to 2023 that my predecessor was Speaker but we both know when the time is right to move on. No role as Speaker lasts forever.
I think you mean 8 representatives who stood for principal - at least for today...
“Mace trashed Trump after J6.”
She wasn’t the only one.

McCarthy sought out a deal to save Joe Manchin’s seat - for Joe Manchin!
Why? How much you wanna bet Biden asked Kevin a favor?
He got nothing in return for it. Nothing
I would literally take the first random person in any phone book before I would take another eGOP weasel.
“The issue is, republicans when they have the power, always and I mean ALWAYS give everything to the Dems..notice Dems never beg the GOP for anything..they are always lock step with each other, they know what they want and they get it..the GOP tries to play nice nice with people who want us dead”
Yep. That “bipartisanship” and “working across the aisle” only works one way.
When the democrats take the White House, House, or Senate (or all three), they yell, “We won!” and “Elections have consequences”. When the GOP establishment take the majority in one or all of those offices, it is “you have to compromise”. The media and pollsters join in the chant and before we know it, every thing on the Democrat’s wish list is passed into law. Heck, we even give them some wins they haven’t yet asked for.
The usual suspects.
Gaetz push to out McCarthy with ZERO follow up plan, is the most irresponsible political move I have ever seen.
I don’t see now how this can be fixed. The damage is done.
Unless... Trump decides to save the situation, and candidates to become Speaker of the House. I don’t see another solution.
So if THAT was the plan, then I say WOW, bravo!
But, if this is NOT the plan... shame on Gaetz having partly destroyed the Republicans (and himself with the sinking ship).
So... only Trump can save this now. Period.
The GOP has always been that way unfortunately..they claim they want the power but when they get it they squander it away and lick the behinds of the Dems, every freakin single time!! Dems know what they want, they want open borders to change the demo of this country to turn it into one party rule and they are close to getting that done(If texas ever turns blue its over officially) and what does the GOP do, they didnt even add border security to this bill, how come? Pass a bill and even if the Dems kill it in the Senate at least pass something useful
He never INTENDED to keep the promises he made.
But I doubt there’s another Republican that can garner the 218.
I wish I was in the house and could put Trumps name into contention
He becomes an ordinary member of the House now unless he chooses to give up his seat.
All part of the script.
McCarthy keeps the job, and Gaetz rakes in the donations.
Time for the representative from Bakersfield representing Silicon Valley to resign from congress.
That is exactly my fear too. WyMAN! will come out in droves to punish conservatives for interfering with the sacred right of abortion.
