It’s confirmed. Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), booted as the Speaker of the House of Representatives today, will not run again for his former office. The gavel will be passed onto someone who can obtain 218 votes at some point within the next few days without going multiple rounds with Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and his posse.

Lindsey Graham, on Sunday, said he spoke to McCarthy and McCarthy agreed to TWO more deals on Ukraine with Biden.

Graham said it was much larger than $24 Billion for Ukraine.

Well, getting rid of him was a consequence of him double dealing on Ukraine. The hope is to elect a Speaker who will eliminate and apparently many, of not most Republican House members did not want to fund Ukraine.

“People should be listening to him now. He let his guard down and is showing us how nasty he really is.”

Yeah... I knew I didn’t trust or like him before. All of my prior sentiments have now been confirmed. Now I reeely don’t like him or trust him. And he no doubt thinks he is so smooth. He is that. Smooth like a snake.

“So I’m guessing a healthy portion of morons here think this is a good thing.”

Now, that is funny. Republicans have a majority by four, so if Nancy Pelosi were to get the Speakership back, it would be serpertine Republicans in the House who give it back to her, not anyone else in the world.

Now, no one would ever mention something like that, if the democrats had the majority. No, sir, they hold rank.

“I think it’s more likely the Democrats will take the House in 2024. ”

Same here but that’s a year away. In the meantime we will see if the Republicans can rally around someone. Not sure who that someone would be.

If border funding doesn’t close it and finish the wall, then it is not enough.

But, if this is NOT the plan... shame on Gaetz having partly destroyed the Republicans (and himself with the sinking ship).>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Thats a little too much hand wringing.

Democratic process is fraught with uncertainty.

It takes courage to see it through.

I am hoping that Jim Jordan comes around. He would have the support of he decided to accept the nomination.

Does the new speaker have to be somebody currently in Congress?

No, the Constitution doesn't explicitly require it.

No, only the elected congressmen can vote. If the speaker is an ordinary moe, they can’t vote on bills, they can only do the speaker functions like control the floor and set the agenda (the most important part because they decide what bills get voted on).

No, the House can hire a nonmembers to fill the role. I think Trump would be great for the position.
