Now-former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy was stripped of his gavel on Tuesday afternoon via roll-call vote on Rep. Matt Gaetz's (R-FL) motion to vacate the chair, pursuant to rules agreed to by McCarthy in order to clinch victory in his drawn-out race to become speaker in January.
By a vote of 216 to 210, the historic motion prevailed as presiding Rep. Steve Womack (R-AR) declared "the resolution is adopted...the office of Speaker of the House of the United States House of Representatives is hereby declared vacant."

In Gaetz’s district, this probably helps him because it’s a very conservative red area, if Gaetz is going to run for governor, he can’t rely on just his congressional district, that’s where his problems will be.

Gaetz doesn’t have to have a solution to act to remove a problem. The rest of Congress can do their damn job and realize that the people are watching.
That is the real game. Congress is full of grifters & losers but if they understand their jobs are on the line they may be scared straighter (maybe a little straighter but its a step in the right direction).

I'm a 76 year old woman. She had the baby on August 27th. That's over a month ago. I didn't have the option to take a month or more off work after I gave birth to either son. Unless she had severe complications with the birth, and she's non-ambulatory, there's no reason she couldn't show up for a vote.

I’m noticing a lot of Meatball Supporters here were Supporting McCarthy too.
Don’t see this as a Trump loss at all.
McC was warned and warned. Get something done, of else. That was baked into the motion to vacate when they named him.
1)One year and just having “hearings” on impeachment. Trump was actually IMPEACHED twice in a year, once in less than a few weeks. This was unacceptable.
2) The whole Uke funding business was all on McC. He wasn’t instructed to get a 45 day extension. He was instructed to get a budget with no Uke funding.
You keep warning and warning a guy, you need to act. McC never believed they would. We went for a full year in 1859 without a speaker. Get someone MAGA or have no speaker, get nothing done.
Here we go again. It goes to the candidate who gets a majority of House members' votes.
If anybody believes anything is going’s to change because of this, they are sorely mistaken.
