You are terribly wrong. Gaetz has now offered the Republicans a chance — perhaps their last chance as a viable political party — to name a true conservative to take charge of the House of Representatives. There was little difference between McCarthy and Ryan or Boehner. The clock is ticking.

Not just the debt ceiling, under McCarthy's leadership of the GOP house caucus Biden get everything he wanted, all of it. They made no use of their ability to stop it, and they could have stopped it. Sometimes in committee, but instead they voted to let it all go to the floor. Then Sometimes on the floor when they dems were deadlocked the GOP supplied the votes for them. Biden got it all with McCarthy's blessing and help.
I hope you realize my “Rand for Speaker” post was a bad Rush impression of using absurdity to illustrate the absurd (comment 2’s post for Trump to be Speaker).

I think that McCarthy fell victim to the hundreds
of promises that he had to make in order to cobble
together enough votes to carry his caucus in the first
place. He had to promise votes of impeachment for Biden,
reducing the deficit, release of the J6 tapes, de-funding the war in Ukraine, investigations of Biden and Garland, border control legislation, and a thousand other things to a handful of people who were dedicated to making him comply
with their wishes. McCarthy was a short-term, ineffective solution to a much larger problem.
I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to manage
220+ egotistical maniacs all of whom arrive with their
special agenda. It seems like an impossible task. It is
even more amazing how much damage the Democrats were able
to cause with the same slim majority. When it came time to
counting votes, Pelosi and Jeffries knew exactly where the votes were. Were it not so evil, it would be pretty impressive. If there is a Republican equivalent to Pelosi,
now is the time for them to step forward.
