As CTH has outlined for well over a decade, the last federal budget that went through the appropriations process, passed both chambers and was signed by a president, was the fiscal year 2008 budget signed in September 2007 by George W Bush. Every single budget from that moment to today has been a series of continuing resolutions, omnibus spending packages (mini and regular) and baseline budgeted CR extensions. So, when Gaetz says it needs to stop, he’s holding the righteous high ground, and it doesn’t matter which congressional or media voice tries to say he’s wrong. He ain’t wrong.
Today, Gaetz said he’s willing to do whatever it takes, to see Kevin McCarthy taken down -OR- forcibly propped up by the Democrats in congress. Which, I might add, will highlight the exact nature of the UniParty construct with a clarity not before understood by the majority of Americans. Go for it, Matt… Make it happen

Anyone who can’t handle that probably doesn’t belong in Congress.
McCarthy has known all this time that one of his mandates was to return Congress to its Constitutional role of budgeting and regular order in appropriations.
Gaetz is arguably not giving him enough credit for at least starting to do this during the short time he’s been Speaker of the House.
What you’re seeing unfold here is the natural chain of events that occurs when a communist country collapses. Eventually, the citizenry just gets tired of paying for the irresponsible decisions made by their predecessors.
The republicants don’t even try to steer. Just roll over and pee on themselves. Every. Time.
“He promised a lot to get his gavel and didn’t ever expect to keep anything he promised.”
I was so upset when he got the speakership. Gaetz, Boebert, et al., believed that he would toe the line with the threat of vacating the chair hanging over his head. He knew he could do whatever he wanted without any repercussions.
Wholeheartedly agree. Don’t you Nautinurse?
There ARE NO MORE “Elections!” That has been bastardized by electronic “voting” Mail in, etc etc etc. The Franchise has been destroyed by the Cabal.
“If you don’t win elections, you don’t get to steer.”
“Our” pilot is steering the ship in the same direction “their” pilot is.

I am particularly intrigued that Matt Gaetz intends to use the Democrats to achieve his goal to take down McCarthy because Gaetz says McCarthy uses the Democrats. Now there's some circular logic. No wonder Gaetz posted his own circular firing squad meme.
The UniParty hacks are ALL triggered.
We are witnessing the loser mentality of their unthinking logic, here on this thread too.
These imbeciles claim we must support UniParty hacks so we can have a majority.
Only imbeciles think UniParty is GOP.
My gawd, how ridiculous.
The uniparty is bankrupting this country on purpose so they can usher in totalitarian communism.
“all the negative comments about Gaetz confuses me”
Yes, and one of the most negative commenters on Gaetz is Mark Levin. I cannot figure out why he hates Gaetz.
Levin will talk endlessly about how government shutdowns are not nearly as toxic as billed by the democrats/MSM and then he will turn right around a slam Gaetz who is trying to put brakes on deficit spending that will destroy our economy and dollar.
Article makes the point that W was the last POTUS who signed a spending bill that went all the way through the Congressional appropriations process. Big deal, he was a big spender too ... just not as big as the demonkkraps.
Your point that the GOP today is exactly what the voters are looking for is true. How many social security beneficiaries here on FR are willing to take a haircut as a contribution to reign in the feral givernment? We won’t because like all the other people feeding at the feral trough, we believe are entitled because we were lied to your face - “it’s your money.” We also know that if we gave back some SS dollars for the purpose of helping save the ferals, the feral givernment won’t shrink one dam# bit but they will promise to do it 10 years down the road. So yes, the “voters” want the GOP that we have - because the GOP today like the demonkkraps will lie too ... will keep the game going...til it crashes.
Your comment about Trump is interesting, but you imply there is no spender worse than him. He was not a fiscal conservative, but I would say FDR, W, bathhouse barry, and FJB are bigger, stronger figures in the area of fiscal irresponsibility. I would also say that if Trump were miraculously (s)elected in 2024, he would be more amenable (listen) to addressing the issue. But he won’t have too listen. Gerrymandering ensures the next Congress will continue to do what they have always done - lie and keep on making your money worthless. But we like to be lied to, don’t we?
It’s amazing to see so many naive Freepers here.
Go back and look at the Communist Party platform of the 19th century.
Nearly every plank of that platform has been firmly in place here on the U.S. for decades.
The USA is out of money......
What is the “atomic truth”?
That the US House of Representatives has a 415-20 left wing majority and the the GOP is a fraud?
Welcome to the party, pal.
Not really true. By today's standards Bush had balanced the budget by 2007 with total deficit of $157B.
McCarthy is proof that winning elections is still exactly like losing.
I don’t think Trump was any worse than the rest. I just pointed out that he has personified fiscal irresponsibility — in both public office and in his business ventures — for his entire adult life.
Let’s say McCarthy is dumped as House Speaker. Which Republican does he think is going to successfully implement the Gaetz agenda in the House?
