Florida GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis is taking the fight to former President Donald Trump, calling out the polling leader's refusal to debate as an indication Trump cannot beat President Joe Biden.
"He's not showing up: He's missing in action," DeSantis told HBO's "Real Time With Bill Maher" on Friday night. "He owes it to voters to show up and defend his record. And I think he thinks he can take a juiced [up] poll, and then people don't get to vote. That's not the way the system works.
"You've got to go earn votes. So I'm showing up."
DeSantis is calling out Trump to a debate, like he has California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, pointing to his performance in the second debate — during which, pundits noted, he was presidential.
"I was the one guy that people said, 'You know what? This guy is actually acting like a president when the rest were not,'" DeSantis told Maher. "And so, OK, there I am. I told Donald, 'Let's do a debate.'
"I'm debating your governor, Gavin Newsom," DeSantis continued to Hollywood host Bill Maher.
"But let's do a debate with me and him. I'll do it."
DeSantis rejected Maher's belief Trump is unbeatable.
"That's not true," DeSantis said. "So, one, I don't think he can win the election. I could win the election. Two, I don't think he could actually get the job done that we need to do.
"For example: COVID. I think we need accountability for what this government did to this country with the COVID restrictions, mandates, and lockdowns. Donald Trump is not going to do that. He says he did everything right. He says he saved millions of lives with lockdowns. He claims his MNRA shot saved 100 million lives."

The more he comes out with really STUPID remarks like these, the less respect I have for him.
They project on us what they do themselves

It's so painfully obvious that the polling is being cooked.
In a different time, clever FReepers would've seen right through this BS but they don't today because they like what the fake polls tell them.
Yet the Trump campaign just spent a quarter million $$$ mailing out anti-DeSantis fliers in Iowa.
So, either Trump enjoys lighting money on fire or he knows the polls are bullsh*t.
Which is it?
Trump has zero chance of winning key swing states.
People need to get out of their bubbles and talk with Independents who voted for Trump in 2020. Way too many have dumped Trump to make him able to beat Newsome. Way too many.

It seems to me all Trump’s adversaries are proving is how strong he is and how little they have to gain by his demise.
In that sense they’ve actually elevated him and demonstrated his resilience.
If there is a real problem among republicans, it’s their inability to read tea leaves. Hopefully, their myopia won’t lead to the demise of the country, but it could.

Yup. And then two very successful days in California and then straight to the “Team Trump Iowa Commit to Caucus Event” in Ottumwa today at 2:30pm (US/Central).

There's some work to do before that can happen.
Otherwise, if President Trump loses in 2024, there will be more foot stomping and crying that things weren't "fair".
Look at 2020. Some normally lucid posters went ape and whined "Biden didn't have nearly as many at his rallies as did President Trump!"
Trying to explain to them that Biden DIDN'T WANT many people at his rallies and much of his voting block was risk averse to catching COVID-19 just goes right over their heads.
Remember the chairs that were within white circles at Biden rallies? Most of the foot stompers seem to have forgot.
Oh, he can WIN it. Whether it is stolen because of fraudulent mail-in ballots, voter machine manipulation or outright Democrat-controlled counting is another problem. He won 2020.
I STILL have yet to see even 0.01% of those 81 million votes out there on the Capitol Mall during his INFRAUDUATION stretching from the Capitol all the way down to the Washington Monument and beyond like other Presidents have had.
He barely got enough media and Democrat staffers and bus-ins to fill up the parking lot.
