Obrador is NOT good. Conservative Mexican guy I know on twitter hates his guts. He’s trashed the economy and tried to rig the next election for his horrible chosen successor, Claudia Sheinbaum.
IMO he's decent. Straight shooter and honest guy. He certainly is NO conservative but compared to lying, authoritarian slime like Trudeau and Biden, he's probably the "best" of the three North American leaders (granted, that's not saying much because the bar is so slow)

Fair enough, and I hate Vicente Fox and Felipe Calderon's guts. Both for their domestic AND foreign policy. Even their Supreme Court appointments were so awful that the Mexican Supreme Court made a bunch of "landmark" liberal activist decisions that would make Earl Warren blush. And don't get me started about how they screamed bloody murder about what would happen if the eeeeeeeeeeeevil corrupt PRI got back in power, only to ENDORSE the PRI after they left office (apparently having the PRI run government is just peachy as long as it doesn't stop themselves from getting elected!)
Don't get me wrong, Obrador has done his share of leftist things I disagree with, but he doesn't PRETEND to be a "conservative". Fox and Calderon do (while supporting as much or MORE left garbage than Odrador does!) I'd rather be stabbed from up front than from behind.

Mexican politics is so messed up its impossible to tell WHO is the "good" candidate in that race, and who is remotely conservative, if anyone. The most bizarre thing is that Sheinbaum's main rival, Xóchitl Gálvez, is the nominee of "conservative" PAN.... and "corrupt, leftist" PRI... and the "far left, extremist" PRD, the latter being the "fringe" party that "scary" Obrador ORIGINALLY used to ride into power.
It makes zero sense, the U.S. equivalent would be a 2024 election contest where the main rivals were a "Unity coalition" slate lead by Jeb Bush for President (faux "conservative" Republican), Gavin Newsome for veep (RAT), and Bernie Sanders for Chief of Staff (Independent socialist loon) VS. "Joe Biden's hand picked successor" Kamala Harris for President on a newly created, all encompassing "Labor & Democracy Party" ticket, with endorsements from the Libertarian and Constitution Party!
