Build Your Dream (BYD), the rising star of electric mobility in China was introduced at Auto Shanghai earlier this year. BYD Auto’s Seagull is being touted as a game-changer for the EV industry. The 5-door hatchback is the smallest vehicle in BYD’s range of electric vehicles. But what is so special about this tiny A-segment city car and how can it challenge the giants in the US market? This is why we have penned this article. So get ready to find every little detail about BYD.

Chinese Yugo
Yep, no way it sells for $11,400 in the good old USA. The optional blinker fluid will run at least $4000 if bought from the dealer.
yup! just get used to the sound of diesel generators to keep all those EV chargers running.
He’s not that smart. The buses were making him more of a laughing stock that usual.
No thanks. Gas guzzlers for me.
Who’s dumb enough?
I could easily pin a gross of nails in donkey keisters, but it’s apparent some here might have trouble sitting down, too.
Note that the "comparison" switches from kph to mph. 50 kph is about 31 mph... in 5 seconds? Not particularly good, either. A 2008 Honda Accord will do 0-50 kph in 2.2 seconds...
Sorry, no thanks on the China EV crap. Chinese ICE crap didn’t make any sales in the USA why do they think the EV crap will??
Something to listen to until the fire department arrives.

“Sounds like a Chicom invasion to collapse the US power grid.”
We don’t need their help on that front.
You forgot…..tik tok tik tok
My gut feeling chargers are going to be moved further and further away from business just to be safe. There is a parking garage in my city by the library that has electric chargers in their parking garages. I try to make sure I park my car at the other end of that floor in the parking garage though I've only seen one car getting charged their, so it is not that big of a deal for me to park at the other end.
BYD is actually a good supplier.
These are even going to be provided with cheaper, and SAFER sodium batteries, available.
Though the range is less for those.
Yep, this is a real, cheap, safe, good-looking reliable car.
I want one.
Plug-ins.
These will be available with Sodium batteries.
Those, for the uninitiated, are cheaper and safer than the lithium batteries EVERYONE else uses, even Tesla.
Though the storage capacity of those, is less. They will also be available with lithium batteries
I think these will be the opposite, of a Yugo.
BYD makes very good cars.
These will not be available outside China initially, but EVERYONE will be facing a serious new threat in the markets, in a year or two. In my opinion.
Yet our automakers, are all manufacturing ever-more complex, always more expensive … um, crap.
Really.
These are a brand new threat.
Just a year or two more
