Rather reminds me of the 3-D TV market.
The industry has tried 3 times in the last 60 years to bring 3-D Television to life. It would flounder for a couple of years and then disappear. It is just too clumsy for the general public to use.
I suspect similar will happen with EVs unless they can find a way to make long trips more accommodating. Hour/hours to recharge on long trips is not to viable. Also, charging stations seem very susceptible too vandalism, so will a charging station be available at the next stop?
Also, you have to consider the safety issue. You don't want to wait 30 minutes in a seedy part of a town to recharge your battery.
and don’t forget CURVED TVs!
