The state of California is suing five big oil companies and the trade group that represents them for decades-long deception about the correlation between fossil fuel production and climate change.

The lawsuit was filed on Friday by the California Attorney General in San Francisco superior court.

California’s complaint joins a wave of climate litigation nationwide but could further open the legal floodgates on climate action against oil firms.

All oil companies should immediately suspend all operations in CA - and then let CA beg them to come back in.

All the climate change deception is coming from the government.

I wonder what happens when the oil companies prove the allegation false in court.

The power of the Left is quite amazing

They first create an entirely fake narrative, like some science-fiction story, and back it with fake “science.”

They then create real-world legislation and political corruption based on that.

Its like government telling the world for 30 years that aliens will invade the earth, and “our science” has confirmed it — and thus we must tax and regulate you to prepare for this alien invasion.

Without oil, modern civilization ceases to exist. All modern cities will eat themselves empty within one month.

I’ve heard they may plan to follow the legal strategy used when states sued cigarette companies. There a major strategy was that cigarette companies were not truthful about the bad health effects caused by smoking.

So if they follow along that pattern ,the major strategy would be that these oil companies know all about how they are causing global warming, and have deceived the public about that.

We could even say that they’re looking for a big payday as a result of the lawsuit. If I recall correctly cigarette companies paid out huge settlements in the billions of dollars relating to the lawsuits filed against them.

I don’t disagree even though I live here. On the other hand, I’d like to see a class action suit against the state. There are potentially tens of millions with standing.

Newsom is executing a desperate ‘Hail Mary’ for a financial windfall to bail out his failing socialist state.

I'd much prefer that the oil companies just withdrew from the state altogether.

This is also marxist/socialist retribution to companies like Chevron who are packing their corporate bags and moving to friendlier business climes like Texas.
