Ron DeSantis contends a convicted Donald Trump wouldn’t win General Election

Thank you! My stance has always been to support & vote for DeSantis as our nominee in the primaries. That hasn’t changed at all. I was irritated at Trump voters for blindly following no matter how destructive & for a short time, wanted to protest by saying I’d never vote for him again. I rethought things & decided that I’d be screwing us over by doing that & behaving just like them. So I wrote that. If he ends up our nominee & there isn’t a viable staunch conservative alternative, then I will be a team player & vote for Trump. But he is not my first choice by any measure. He has brought with him some valuable stances that I was happy to see- stopping illegal immigration, building a permanent barrier, protecting American jobs & cRing about workers & the middle class. Those are all great things. Lord knows I was happy to see an actual fighter too who went on the attack instead of responding. But all of his downsides & the fact that his supporters care more about loyalty to him than the principles we believe in seems to outweigh the positives. Oh and he turns out not to be so great at winning elections either or supporting conservative candidates in other races & helping them win elections. I think DeSantis would be a far better & more successful choice. He has an absolutely conservative record to run on & he’s won elections overwhelmingly. He’s also helped other conservatives win elections. So I’m voting for DeSantis in the primaries to be our candidate. But unlike most of the Trumpists, if need be, I will be a team player in the general election 😉

Is your comment self-satire or what? Right off the bat you offer up this strawman:

“.. we are more concerned about loyalty to a candidate than winning elections.”

Your implication that we’re choosing loyalty to Trump over winnability in the next election, is utter nonsense. Even if electability is your only metric, Trump is the by far the strongest Republican candidate running, with around a 40% gap between he and his closest GOP challenger.

Pretending for a moment that Biden really got 81 million votes in 2020, Trump’s official vote total in 2020 gives him the second largest number of votes in history. In the 3 years since that election, support for Biden has only plummeted while support for Trump has grown. The recent indictments against him have backfired and gained him unheard-of support among some of the Democrat party’s most loyal constituencies.

>>If there was a concentration on getting conservatives elected, we could pass statewide voting reforms that protect and reinforce honest elections, we could close the borders, deport & build a permanent barrier, we could get conservatives seated on courts, etc.

Have you been paying attention to elections for the past 20-plus years? We’ve been hearing that line for as long as I can remember. “If we just elect more conservatives we’ll be able to fix things.”

Do you remember the Tea Party, and do you remember how that movement was waylaid by Establishment Republicans giving lip service to its ideals? We were back to business as usual in no time. Most all of the Tea Party firebrands that were elected were indistinguishable from the Establishment Republicans they campaign against, in short order.

If you think sticking with the same-old, same-old is the answer then you’ve learned nothing from recent history.

But somehow one of these side show also rans would win, and Trump wouldn’t? It’s a full on joke.

Yeah, except it's not funny.

”... nothing has changed in the GOP establishment, they just keep pretending they can go back to the way things were...

Yeah, that paradigm shifted in the 90s, but they either don't know or don't care.

I’m going to CHARITABLY assume for now that this is a hit piece on DeSantis.

Because otherwise I’d have to call him a backstabbing SOB with no moral center.

“IF President is to be cheated then let it be by the likes of godfather 10% Joey..” So you are saying that if Trump doesn’t get the nomination or win the general election then it’s cheating because your guy didn’t get chosen? And you’re saying that if you can’t have Trump, you want Biden? ...But you’re not a nihilist!?!?? 🤔🫡🫣🤭🙄😵🥴

It's a good question.

I don't see how DeSantis could win in 2024 under any circumstances -- even if Trump were to drop out and DeSantis locked up the GOP nomination early in the primaries.

There are too many voters out there who would write in Trump just to piss off the political establishment.

"At this point, if Trump is DEAD, I’m still writing him in."

I'll be right there with you. And since I know that the GOP will never nominate anyone like Trump in any future Presidential elections after 2024, I'll continue to write Trump's name in on all future elections, whether he's dead or not...as least for as long as I'm alive. The GOP is dead to me.

Honesty is not your strong suit, and I suspect this is not the first time your flaw has been brought to your attention ...

What you left out was the word CHEATED ... NOT he does not 'get' the nomination. I am all for honest one vote per US citizen ... That does not bother me in the slightest ... IT is when the uniparty colludes to steal elections that will not stand the test of time.

Duh-Saintis is NOT going to win the nomination ... he has sold his soul though to take advantage of corruption... kinda of like being the driver for the biggest bank heist in history.... GET it....

Like me.

I had thought about un-registering and becoming an "independent", so that presumably Republicans would finally care what I want, but I've concluded that won't work either. They can say they got the message until kingdom come, but I don't believe them, and I don't believe Ron DeSantis either.

Every fake impeachment slur or charge has only raised Trump’s support with must of the American people.

You and I know that will never happen, because there are still too many morons who claim they are conservatives, who will vote for a crap Republican candidate just to keep the seat Republican. The GOP will never be reformed because of that. Those people who vote for someone they know isn't good for America are just perpetuating the problem.

Which isn’t surprising, since it happened to Trump and MAGA voters when a bunch of clowns that call themselves Republicans, failed to back the the Nominee in 2016 & 2020.

“Payback can hurt.”

Don’t tell him what he’s saying.

YOU are trying to force other peoples’ words through your personal template.

Sorry but your inability to distinguish between an establishment stooge like Lindsay Graham & an actual verifiable conservative like Rand Paul, or Ron DeSantis is probably the thing I have the least respect for. You seem to have convinced yourself that you are the only true believers & that those of us that detest establishment types just as much as you are less committed than you because I would prefer another conservative over Trump. A) DeSantis is every bit as anti establishment as Trump ever was. B) He seems capable of realizing the election isn’t about him, it’s about the country. C) Trump, once elected, did not do the hard work of picking up the phone and helping get legislation passed when he had the chance in a Republican Congress. Didn’t even break a sweat. D) Trump had the chance in a couple of elections to build a coalition in the party, work towards getting Republicans elected & campaigning to ensure he had the votes. Nothing. E) He and many of his supporters turn a lot of people off. Not because you are bad people or because you show loyalty, but because even if somebody is 100% a solid conservative, but makes a critique because we know how important winning the election is, you endlessly badmouth us, compare us to the establishment & refuse any recommendations that might help us! 🤔

What is the subject of this thread? Conviction by demonic evil forces ... And here is that want-a-be disciple of Jesus intending to reap the awards/rewards of a convicted President Trump. That is one method of cheating ... there are many others, such as the law business seeking other remedies to prevent President Trump for being placed on a ballot ...

It is vile and disgusting what the law business has become ... Jesus warned us all about those who sit in the seat of Moses ... Matthew 23 why I can see Duh-Saintis rowing his boat right in the midst.

I really have little tolerance for insufferable ignorance ... and you young thing, teeter over the depths of ignorance.

Don’t think DeSantis is ready for the larger job.

Good coach for high school

NOT ready for NFL
