Was I a sucker? I sure don’t want to feel like a sap, but the thought that I may be one arises when I watch this endless parade of patriots – including our last conscious president – being prosecuted for their political beliefs and treated differently under a two-tier justice system as the garbage institutions attempt to quash free speech, and as the alleged president, a desiccated, corrupt, old pervert, generally drives our country into the ground. I defended this?
I did 27 years in our military. I proudly swore to defend our Constitution. Now, I only washed trucks – I wasn’t a war hero like Pete Buttigieg or Da Nang Dick Blumenthal, and I certainly wasn’t killed in Iraq, Afghanistan, and also (I think) Maui like Joe Biden’s non-coke-addled son was, but I showed up. I dressed like a tree, marched around, went where they sent me, and did my job. Don’t get me wrong – it was not all bad. It was fun some of the time, and I got to do a lot of interesting things other people didn’t get to. I got a little money – very little – and I’ve always been intensely grateful for the chance to be an American soldier. And I took it seriously. That oath I took? It never expires. And now I just need to know if I was a sucker for believing all that Constitution and freedom stuff when I raised my right hand.
I know a lot of fellow vets who are asking the same question.

The Democrats have never really liked the military, including Pete Booty Juice as Biden calls him. It was nothing more than an ends to a means, at best.
the USA is presently undergoing a quiet coup, for the soul of the nation. Its taking place in Washington DC, among our highly centralized, political elites in DC, with the DOJ/FBI, security state the media and their lackies in the Uniparty, against traditionalists and the institutions of the American Republic.
It only occasionally spills out onto the streets when allowed.
"Our Democracy" has come to mean "Not yours." And the military has become a playpen for the dictatorial to practice what they have in mind for the rest of the country. What would-be tyrant wouldn't love a system where he or she gets to give orders that must be obeyed?
I completely get where the author is coming from.
That said, my oath was for me to live up to, not others to live up to. I can only control my faith to my own oath, and it is important to me, so I will conduct myself accordingly.
I believe very few politicians actually know anything about the oath they took when they were sworn in, and have no problem not living up to that oath, and I wonder the same thing about many (though not all) of the people who have enlisted or been commissioned since 2008.
That is not a condemnation of our military as a whole, although I am very concerned about that too since we have seen with our own eyes that the top military leadership are engaging in, supporting, and proposing things that are completely at odds with our Constitution.
“The unworthy among us have temporarily taken over. “
This is the NormieCon delusion of people like Schlichter. That this is temporary and “the pendulum will swing back.”
The Left has captured every institution in the country. They have the power to steal elections. And the power to cover it up and deny it happened.
And criminalize those who protest what they did.
They only way this stops is Regime collapse.
And we have seen in the last several years, that they do indeed love that system.
Right out of Atlas Shrugged.
I never liked this guy, and a big reason for it is that he proudly describes his military service in Kosovo on his web page.
This column comes across as completely tone-deaf. He should have been asking more questions about his country’s government and its priorities 20+ years ago.
You mean like this Kurt.
It takes an ape to instinctively throw out the trash.

I try my best to vote Conservative Red. Like you, my hub, served in the USN for 20 years. 58-78.
I think my DD Form 214 is no longer valid. Why?
The forts I served at don’t exist anymore.

You have my full support. You served your country admirably and honorably.
The current occupant of the oval office doesn’t appreciate you. He’s proven it in many ways.
I’m hoping the public extricates its collective head out of its collective anal exit, and changes the direction this country is going in.
"Feelings" are exactly why we're at this moment ass-deep in alligators.
If Uncle Sam wanted you to have "feelings," he'd have issued them to you.
As in most cases (to include the impending goat rope), the correct course of action is to feel less and think more.
Focus on being the Grey Man. The nail that sticks out is the first to get pounded.
Keep your rifle cleaned and oiled and your powder dry. You can never have too much ammunition (unless you're drowning or on fire).
Keep reloading. Then load some more (in case your battle buddy failed to do his due diligence)
Remain watchful and bide your time until the call goes out to men of action. Recall then that your oath to protect and defend the US Constitution did not come with an expiration date.
And when your moment comes, let your voice be heard as loud as thunder.
I enlisted when I couldn't drink, vote, marry, get a loan, own a gun (I got my DL on leave after Basic) and learned all about Viet Nam from returnees who drew no punches and talked freely with fellow soldiers.
I knew more in 1968/9 than anyone I could talk to . . . JUST like Nam vets.
They sent me to Korea instead of in country . . . . I was pretty scrambled when it was over (for me)
