How Burning Man Turned Into a Nightmare, Though Organizers Disagree(follow up. Exodus has begun)

The Burning Man festival, which attracts 70-80,000 people annually, is over, but not before stranding scores of attendees due to torrential rains that made it impossible to leave the venue. The situation even caught the attention of the Biden White House. Organizers assured the outside world that all was well and appreciated everyone’s concern (via NBC News):

Crazy weather and the inability of those to leave or enter the venue are not uncommon. If it’s not rain, then it’s a dust storm. The COVID pandemic also canceled the event twice. And then, there were these far-left climate protesters who blocked the roads leading to Burning Man, which Nevada Rangers wrecked. They plowed through their makeshift barricades, exiting their trucks, guns drawn to arrest the green warriors. So, yeah, there’s no shortage of entertainment.

“Cronkite’s voice was soft and I remember laying on the rug in the middle of the floor when he came on and being happy to listen to him knowing it would lull me to sleep.”

The thing I remember most about Cronkite was him telling me how many U.S. soldiers were killed and wounded in Vietnam every day both times my father was over there.

I like the Babylon Bee take on it.

“BLACK ROCK CITY, NV — President Biden has approved an emergency shipment of $40 billion worth of drugs be airdropped to stranded revelers at the Burning Man...”

HaHa! I was too young to go, or I probably would have. My dad would have locked me in my room and fed me through a hole. Dad didn’t like much about the 60’s. We grew up listening to Tennessee Ernie Ford records and watching HeeHaw in the evenings. He hated our music, as you could guess. LOL

He was a lot better than anything we have now. Dad loved him! We only had a black & white TV with “snow” but Dad hung onto every word.

Football did the sleep thing for me. If he was watching football, we all had to go to our rooms. We could still hear it and today it still puts me to sleep.

We had a much more wholesome upbringing that most kids today. Too much of “The View” and not enough Cronkite. We were so deprived that we had to play outside. [HORRORS]

I never knew much about Burning Man. While some say it is a festival of liberal counter culture druggie types, a few people here on Free Republic said it’s actually a peaceful family friendly event.

It’s both. And everything in between.

I know. I’ve been there 7 times since 2002.

"We had a much more wholesome upbringing that most kids today."

.

We could & would go out and ride our bikes after dinner in the summer.
Just could not stray out of the county. (Or the next one over. Too far, anyway.)
And we had to be back home when the streetlights came on.
(Or on our way - or at least thinking about starting to come home...)

In retrospect it was sort of Mayberry-Like, really.

"I was 'vacationing' in SE Asia."

.

And it was a real blast, right?

Closest I ever came to real military service was the Naval ROTC.
Pretty LAME, right?
It was 'interesting' - is all I will say about it.

Yes it was! We all had baskets on our bikes to carry bottles we’d cashed in to buy candy. I’d hate to be a kid today.

I heard that but nobody knew that stuff then. We all lived in Mayberry. No Internet.

A pagan, or neo-pagan festival.

Cronkite was a Communist and wanted the UN to run the world.

As he said, he wouldn’t mind sitting by the side of Satan!
His words!

The Black Rock Desert is turned into Black Rock City for the festival.

There’s a symbolic connection between the Burning Man festival and stories of the Druid Wicker Man - a pagan ritual used to perform human sacrifice.

————————————————————-

Gematria is the ancient practice of coding numbers into letters, assigning numeric values to words. It existed as isopsephy in Ancient Greece; Hebrew Gematria and Biblical Gematria are actively practiced today.

English Gematria is a newer practice, and believed by those who decode events and news stories to reveal deeper meanings and hidden connections.

There are four base English ciphers - Ordinal, Reverse Ordinal, Reduction and Reverse Reduction.

I do Lyft in Reno and have had my share of those dirty, stinky, freak burners the last two days. I’m going to be spending quite a while at the car wash tomorrow - the dust gets everywhere and is so hard to clean.
