Former Representative Peter Meijer, who lost his Republican House primary last year after voting to impeach President Donald J. Trump, has formed an exploratory committee to run for Senate in Michigan.
Mr. Meijer filed paperwork with the I.R.S. this week and confirmed the creation of the committee — which allows him to raise money before formally declaring a campaign — in a text to The New York Times on Thursday. The news was previously reported by The Detroit Free Press.
If he moves forward, Mr. Meijer, 35, would be the first well-known Republican to enter the race for the seat held by Senator Debbie Stabenow, a Democrat who is not seeking re-election. But he may not be the last: Former Representative Mike Rogers, who served seven terms in the House and led the House Intelligence Committee before leaving in 2015, is widely expected to run as well.
Republicans see the race, in a swing state that Mr. Trump won in 2016 but lost in 2020 to Joseph R. Biden Jr., as a major opportunity in their effort to retake control of the Senate. They need to gain either one or two seats, depending on whether they win the White House.

Peter Meijer will be going down in flames to the onslaught of the Democrat nominee, should he even get the nomination, as the Democrat Socialist machine in Michigan does not recognize the right of any Republican to even exist. And all the big guns will be brought to bear in Michigan, making that venue to the left of even Minnesota.
Guaranteed, Meijer will be Ronna Romney and Mitch McConnell’s preferred candidate.

Meijer is a RINO’s RINO, total uniparty and closet dem. That POS didn’t have a chance in these blood red parts and was thrown out the same way as his predecessor House member fake “conservative” Justin Amash who was promptly tossed out by voters for opposing Trump. He will certainly pick up a lot of disaffected dems but in the end he’ll sell out the state and country if elected. Conservatives will not vote for him, period. Since StabaCow (think sign ‘dangerously incompetent’) is a leftist she’ll be easily replaced by this Meijer trash if the state GOPe puts up another RINO and he wins. You can expect the national rat party to put up untold millions for that other bucket of dem traitorism Elissa Slut-kin who is now a commie Rep in Congress.
Good choice for the democrat primary
The west side of the state is rabidly conservative. It’s
that side of the state that doomed his reelection. If he ran there, no dice. If he runs for the more liberal east side of the state he might have a chance.

With the awakening of Republican power and willingness to fight back happening right now in Michigan, Mike Pence has a better chance of getting the Republican nomination.
If he runs as a “spoiler” he will only spoil himself. Republicans won’t cross over and vote for him in any significant n umbers and neither will Democrat/communists.
He might pull some Greens and a few fake independents but won’t be a factor.
If the rodent voter fraud is solved and there was a big development in that area just today, the Republican nominee who will be John James will win by 8 or more points.
Why not do something useful, like running Meijer.
