Will their upheaval succeed?
In the last 20 years, the Left has boasted that it has gained control of most of America institutions of power and influence—the corporate boardroom, media, Silicon Valley, Wall Street, the administrative state, academia, foundations, social media, entertainment, professional sports, and Hollywood.
With such support, between 2009-17, Barack Obama was empowered to transform the Democratic Party from its middle-class roots and class concerns into the party of the bicoastal rich and subsidized poor—obsessions with big money, race, a new intolerant green religion, and dividing the country into a binary of oppressors and oppressed.
The Obamas entered the presidency spouting the usual leftwing boilerplate (“spread the wealth,” “just downright mean country,” “get in their face,” “first time I’ve been proud of my country”) as upper-middle-class, former community activists, hurt that their genius and talents had not yet been sufficiently monetized.
After getting elected through temporarily pivoting to racial ecumenicalism and pseudo-calls for unity, they reverted to form and governed by dividing the country. And then the two left the White House as soon-to-be mansion living, mega-rich elites, cashing in on the fears they had inculcated over the prior eight years.
To push through the accompanying unpopular agendas of an open border, mandatory wind and solar energy, racial essentialism, and the weaponization of the state, Obama had begun demonizing his opponents and the country in general: America was an unexceptional place. Cops were racist. “Clingers” of the Midwest were hopelessly ignorant and prejudiced. Only fundamental socialist transformation could salvage a historically oppressive, immoral, and racist nation.
The people finally rebelled at such preposterousness. Obama lost his party some 1,400 local and state offices during his tenure, along with both houses of Congress. His presidency was characterized by his own polarizing mediocrity. His one legacy was Obamacare...

The Left didn’t do it
The apathetic and lazy Right did not resist
.
More like the frightened right
You can't start a MAGA/third party. You have to vote Republican or the demoncraps win, or something...
Desperately Needed: Republicans with Political Killer Instincts
The stakes are too high for the future of our Republic.

Exactly right. The loser repubs were/are there to back and help them win.
p
and why do they also want to disarm all Americans? anybody?
VDH sums up with my favorite phrase, we have to burn the village to save it. What comes after the collapse? No doubt the left wants a totalitarian communist police state. Loyal communists do well. The rest of us starve. Maybe a civil war will erupt. That will make the Ukraine look like a day at the beach.
One US senator comes to mind immediately: Susan Collins from Maine /s

Victor Davis Hanson sees the Democrats for just who they are, not who they claim to be. If they got everything they wanted, there wouldn’t enough capable people left to even run the country & make it work in any reasonable fashion.
For much less effort and funding than would be needed to actually create a new party, you could create a MAGA "shadow organization" to recruit and run people in primaries, and to take control of local party organizations.
If you can't accomplish that, then you would not accomplish a third party.
IMO, the current political systems is incapable of reforming itself, no matter how many elections are won or lost.
Republican politicians who should be the force that says no more only pay lip service and are content to win elections every now and then when things get really bad that people decided to give them one more chance only to be disappointed again.
That’s why this entire argument among many on the right about Trump is ridiculous, Trump alone can’t really do anything, especially given he will have only 4 years at most to do anything.
If Trump were President, what are the odds he would have a fully supportive Congress and Senate to help him fully implement his agenda, I would say the chances are near zero.
Trump will be able to do something about the border and foreign policy, but those changes will be temporary until the next Democrat becomes POTUS.
Just like when Biden became POTUS, in the first couple of days thru executive orders, he pretty much reversed the entire Trump agenda.
You would need Trump to win, have a Congress and Senate that would fully enact his agenda, followed up by 2-3 more Republican MAGA Presidents who also had a Congress and Senate to help them.
The way I see this playing out is, those who are conservative, or middle of the road Democrats will continue to leave Blue States and move to Red States, Red States over time will gain more political power thru Congressional Reapportionment, they will continue to grow and prosper economically because the businesses that will move there.
Blue States will continue to devolve into 3rd world lawless Sh*tholes, once the Democrats realize what’s happening then the real fun begins.
Will there be a 2nd Civil War, maybe but doubtful IMO, maybe a few cross-border skirmishes but not full-on warfare like the first Civil War.
In the meantime, I think the USA will suffer some type of catastrophic defeat or event that shocks the nation, something that makes 9/11 look like childs play.
World War III, a loss of a major war in Europe, a loss of a major war in the Pacific, some event that will unfortunately cost the lives of a huge number of people. Hopefully it won’t be as bad as Germany and Japan in late 1945, but that could happen.
“ apathetic and lazy Right did not resist”
There is no organized Right.
People who might support resistance are hypnotized by their imaginary GOP, a party that does not and never will exist.
If the Leftists succeed, America will become South Africa. America is already becoming completely ungovernable and failing as a nation.
Paul Ryan and Mitch McConnell had the House and Senate under Trump and they refused to defund Obamacare as they ardently pledged. They also refused to fund the border wall. Those are facts. So, absolutely, Obama was the gay Communist who lit the fire, but it clearly was the Republican uniparty who stood by and let the country burn.
