He passed away peacefully Friday night surrounded by his family, friends, music and dogs

A Pirate looks at Forty is a favorite. And a lyric, “Changes in Attitude, changes in Latitude, nothing remains quite the same, …..if we couldn’t laugh, we would all go insane”.
Yes, yes it is.
In the old days he had a strong following here
Hope folks aren’t too cruel
I lived on of his songs and yes art inspires life
It’s inevitable
I met him once
Went on his Lockheed jet star
His backup girls were adorable and very sweet to 19 year old me
Home boy we inhabited simlar spaces

RE: Your posts about Come Monday
JB spent a lot of time in Montana — Missoula is mentioned in Come Monday, also Ringling, Ringling (Ringling is a town in Montana)...
His sister has been married to a writer for years and they have several Montana homes, I have met them both on several occasions.
Never met JB but have always been a fan of his music.
RIP
Ironic that Cheeseburger in Paradise died in Lahaina less than a month ago.
The son of a son of a sailor has finally put in to port, wherever that may be.
I was living in Miami during the 70s. In those days Jimmy used to show up at several places in the Keys and up into South Dade county. Under the radar. Eventually he would be sailing in the Bahamas and would call The Gussman Music Hall in Miami and ask them what nights were open in the next week, and would book a couple nites which would immediately sell out, and he would sail into town, do the concerts, take the money, and head back to the islands. Nice work if you can get it!
Flushed it.
Yep
Seen him my own eyes
Blow and booze and Valium to sleep
Then do it again next night
Toured as living back then in mid 70s
He had a sharp wit
Epitomized north gulf coast Deep South Guy
Accent and look
All his family in Mississippi I ever saw were blonde too
Cousins
Bit of trivia here … I believe Jimmy Buffett is the only person to have all three of these accomplishments to his name:
- a #1 hit on the Billboard charts
- a #1 New York Times bestselling book for fiction
- a #1 NYT bestseller for non-fiction
He certainly had a lot of talent and lived a colorful life.
20+ years ago he owned an Albatross airplane. I used to see him fly it up and down the coast of Palm Beach. It was very, very cool. There is a story that he was with either Sting or Bono flying in the Caribbean/Jamacia, and they got shot-up by the local islanders!
Jimmy Buffet and Allan Jackson doing “Must be 5 o’clock Somewhere” That’s my favorite. Most of his tubes were just silly drinking tunes and getting high on marijuana. It did Jimmy good. My guess >> He died worth at least 400 million dollars.
BUT!!!!!!>>>>>
However, according to Forbes magazine, as of August 28, 2023, Jimmy Buffett had a real-time net worth of $1 billion 3. His net worth was primarily derived from his music catalog, touring and recording, and his stake in Margaritaville Holdings 3. Margaritaville Holdings is a lifestyle brand that includes resorts, restaurants, housing, apparel, home decor, pool floats, pickleball sets as well as tequila and margarita mix 3. Buffett founded Margaritaville in 1985 and holds a 28% stake worth an estimated $180 million 3.
