The Stupid Party vs. the Evil Party
WSJ ^ | 8/30/23 | Daniel Henninger

Posted on 08/31/2023 6:44:02 AM PDT by Brilliant

An overwhelming majority of the public, more than 60%, doesn’t want either Joe Biden or Donald Trump to run for president. Yet the two major political parties are tumbling toward that unwanted choice..

Former Wyoming GOP Sen. Alan Simpson...used to call Republicans “the stupid party...” Democrats, he said, were “the evil party.”

Which would you rather be right now, the stupid party or the evil party? My money says the evil party will find a way out of the Biden-Trump dilemma.

Put it this way: The party that nominates someone other than these two will win the decisive votes of independents, and the election. The Republicans look locked into their forget-the-independents choice. I don’t think the Democrats are.

The support for Mr. Trump is overwhelmingly an emotional rush and blood feud. But come election time, Democrats won’t do emotion. They’re bloodless, with eyes only on the prize. As Bill Clinton said after the 1996 election to Bob Dole who complained about unfair Clinton attack ads: “You gotta do what you gotta do.” This time, Democrats will take the advice of a Clinton who knew how to win...

To win in 2024, they will pull the plug on Joe Biden...

Virtually any of the other Republican candidates would surely defeat a Joe Biden unpopular for personal and policy reasons. What is not a mystery is whether the stupid party or the evil party will figure this out first.

Republicans are NOT stupid. They are motivated by self enrichment beyond any other goal. I’m convinced that they wish to be, and enjoy being the minority party. In that role, they can point out how bad Dems are, and how things would be better if they were in charge. But, put them in charge and they do nothing.

Republicans are more than happy to see Dems expand government while the Republicans can pretend that they hate government expansion. Government expansion means jobs and money for the political class.

They are not stupid.

They are collaborators.

Vichy.

Correct. They spout off red-meat for the masses but they simply want to enrich themselves and hold onto their nice government power and benefits. Nothing more. Anything else is a lie.

Trump is a perfect example of this. He’s running to fundraise for his legal bills.

I’m not at all convinced any of the current GOP candidates would defeat Biden. Asa Hutchinson and Chris Christie ain’t defeatin; nobody. Maybe Mike Pence could. Maybe DeSantis. I have my doubts as to whether Biden will even be able to stand up by election 20204 but in many ways I don’t think that much matters. He or whichever Dem candidate is going to have 7-10 million brand new imported votes.

I’m not evaluating on anything resembling historical criteria. If in the past the GOP had to overcome a 5% fraud margin, I’d suspect it’s 7-8-10% now. Nobody of any stature will be ever be prosecuted and the election results will be in and settled by the time any such imaginary prosecution would occur, so it’s the mootest of moot points. I don’t think fair elections will ever exist in the US any more, and if they do, they are still scheduled to be swamped by the import of 10 MM illegals under Biden.

I think they could all beat Biden. That said, I don’t think Biden is going to be the Dem nominee. Whether they could beat Newsom or Whitmer I don’t know. They could probably beat Harris, although even that’s a crapshoot. Even Dems don’t want Biden, though. The only one they want less than Biden is Trump.

Column is premised on notion the parties care about polls. Whether the parties do or not, the deep state does not, which is what matters.

Author of this essay is Daniel Henninger.

Henninger is another fake Conservative journalist who has been making a living on Fox News and on the previously Conservative editorial page of the Wall Street Journal for decades.

Henninger writes:

"Virtually any of the other Republican candidates [besides Trump] would surely defeat Joe Biden..."

Wrong!

Donald Trump is the ONLY Republican who can beat EVERY Democrat in the Electoral College.

In 2020, excluding the popular vote in New York state and California, Trump won the popular vote in the other 48 states and Washington D.C. by 37,000 votes, in spite of massive voter fraud in half a dozen swing states.

The column also assumes that polls get good samples, ask good questions, and then tell the truth—and that people tell the truth to the polls.

The Vichy Republicans are—in fact—a branch of the Democratic Party—a bit more too the Right politically—but not much. They give lip service to the people that they secretly hate as smelly Hillbillies and trailer trash. Yeah, they will elect a Mitten Romney, or a Liz Chaney to carry the approved GOP banner—for show. Need new Party! Need a Reform Party to re-make things—a populist party—like Tea Party of Old. It will happen—in time.

Anyone here want to start a new political party?

I don’t know the mechanics of starting a new political party or what would be involved in getting ballot access in each of the 50 states.

But I suspected any such effort would have to be long-term and we would be having to think long term. Such as, a 10-year or a 20-year plan in order to develop a competitive political party.

Libertarians have been around for over 50 years and yet they have never gone beyond being a fringe political party.

What would it take to create a political party that would be competitive to the to major parties?

There is more than enough evil in the Stupid Party too. Ask Mitch (it’ll probably short-circuit what’s left of his brain), or Mitt.

Politics or lawfare aren’t going to defeat the evil that has wrested control over this country.

I have long advocated that we need a new Conservative Party. Not a Ross Perot ego trip but a real national party. We could take over the remains of the Reform Party or the Constitutional Party and use their charter to do the job—or start anew party of our own. Taking over Reform would be simple—all it would take is for Millions to Join and by ballot take over the thing. BUT it must be a real party and run a full slate of people—not just for President. That was one of the things that I liked about the Tea Party, regular people, stepping up to run for office. Even if they lost they impacted the debate. Real Ideals, real goals, real leadership. MAGA! IF the GOP freezes out Trump and selects an “Acceptable” Person to head to run for president—I believe Trump should run Third Party. New party should have as its Motto: “Don’t Tread on Me.” Symbol? The Lion, Goals MAGA. Americanism, America First. Reform the Government to what it was. President : Trump, VP Lake. A full range of Candidates for Senator, Congressman and Governor to be from the ranks of the common man—like actors like Cain, or Kelsey Gramer to Tucker Carlson, Glenn Beck and conservative writers. Now is not the time for weakness, it is a time to step up to greatness.
