In the first Republican presidential debate, Nikki Haley got in a pretty effective jab at Vivek Ramaswamy, the tech tyro who was informing the American people of his strange views on world affairs: “You have no foreign-policy experience, and it shows.” Never mind that Haley’s foreign-policy experience as Donald Trump’s mouthpiece at the United Nations hardly makes her Henry Kissinger. She’s right about Ramaswamy. His erratic suggestions for selling out Ukraine and Taiwan as part of some Risk-style geopolitical maneuver have now been revealed as reflecting a factually undernourished version of U.S. foreign policy that the candidate explained in a manifesto at The American Conservative.
It’s no surprise that Ramaswamy brands his proposed “doctrine” as president with the MAGA (and pre-Pearl Harbor isolationist) battle cry of “America First.” It also figures that he’d trace his hostility to “entangling alliances” back to George Washington, who famously warned against such invitations to the dominant European powers of his era to send wooden warships across the Atlantic (a relatively low threat today). I’d also give the boy wonder credit for touting the Monroe Doctrine as providing a loophole by which even enemies of U.S. troop deployments in Europe or Asia can nonetheless rattle sabers at Mexico.

Nixon was taken down by the CIA just like JFK. I’m shocked that this isn’t commonly known.
I’m not a fan of Ramaswamy, but, Richard Nixon brought us home from Viet Nam after Kennedy and Johnson sent thousands to their death.
“I’d also give the boy wonder credit for touting the Monroe Doctrine...”
The funny thing is most folks never finished reading the Doctrine. It also states we should mind our own business elsewhere.
But that’s not convenient.
Nixon did more to advance Leftist causes than anyone before or after him, so I disagree with Vivek on this one.
Nixon, like McCarthy, is not allowed to be loved.
This crappy world is not the one I expected after the Berlin Wall came down. The Bible says we are fallen, and we make it evident every day.
The next time the EPA issues another regulation that crushes the economy remember to thank Richard Nixon.
The Left has indoctrinated people to associate Vietnam with Nixon, as if JFK and LBJ never existed.
I don’t trust RamaswamPy.
Actually in Nixon’s final years, he and Bill Clinton became close.
And we have trannies in Women’s sports thanks to Nixon’s Title IX.
It’s true much of our misery is due to Nixon’s Government expansion.
So what. I like Nixon for the most part. Personally, I don’t love any politician, but I don’t care if others love politicians. What’s with all the Nikki articles with her attacking Ramaswamy. Seems a bit racist and sexist. I guess it’s interesting to some when a Indian woman attacks an Indian man. Nikki’s political career is dead. There’s nothing interesting about her. Just another feckless woman. Yes, I am sexist and 100% against feminism of all sorts. But I love women, they just need to act like women.
Nixon was for his time a progressive.
But the Left never forgave him for HUAC, they were going to get that scalp, one way or the other.
Nixon was liberal??? What the heck???
Nixon has his faults. I am not a giant fan like Ramaswamy, but at least I can discuss his pros and cons without the Swamp telling me what to think.
If you do a deep dive into Nixon’s domestic policies you will lose the “like” in a hurry.
He was a part of the problem—not a part of the solution.
