Former President Trump showered Vivek Ramaswamy with praise when asked in an interview if he'd considered the 38-year-old biotech entrepreneur for vice president.
Why it matters: It's the most Trump has weighed in on Ramaswamy's presidential candidacy, revealing his openness to a significantly younger and arguably more radical anti-Washington unknown.
Driving the news: Trump called Ramaswamy "smart" and "young" and "full of talent" when asked by conservative talk show host Glenn Beck what he thinks of a "Vice President Ramaswamy."
"He's a very, very, very intelligent person. He's got good energy, and he could be some form of something," Trump said of Ramaswamy. "I tell you, I think he'd be very good."
The exchange came less than a week after the first GOP debate, which Trump sat out but promised to watch for potential vice presidential picks. The intrigue: Trump, in the same interview with Beck, seemed to acknowledge Ramaswamy's tendency to drive controversy, urging him to reign it in.

I suspect this term won’t have a hiring process of “let’s watch and see what this bad guy is up to and who his contacts are, as much as a classic security clearance of not only who is not antiamerican but who isnt tied to the democrat or uniparty.
Trump will surprise us again
It is not a personnel decision by Trump. He has not picked a VP yet. He is just saying something nice about someone who sucks up to him.
It’s just a lot of happy talk
Trump was very honest about his philosophy : you treat me nice, I’ll treat you nice.
I like Ramaswamy, but I don’t want him as President or VP in ‘24. Trump should put Vivek to work as an agency head where he can show how he can quickly do some minor reorganization and massive shuttering. If he accomplishes that, he can be made Reorganization and Shuttering Czar for the entire federal government. If he’s successful at that he will be the most experienced Presidential candidate in my lifetime come 2028.
I was running through that in my mind. Came up with Lincoln’s first term pick.

I don’t know much about the guy.
Many of the activists with whom I work with in groups like the California Republican Assembly, Orange County We the People, Eagle Forum, etc. are very bullish on Ramaswamy, and some even prefer him over Trump. Even if he doesn’t win the nomination, I hope he runs a strong campaign so as to force the rest of the candidates to deal with the issues he’s raising.

Trump pointedly didn’t say “yes” to the VP slot. Chances of that seem beyond slim, but Trump’s had a “hands off” policy for this guy for some time, he’s clearly thinking that there’s a role for him in the general campaign and the administration should Trump win.
There have been rumors for weeks about a cabinet post, but someone on FR suggested that he would be a good chief of staff for the incoming administration. Have not heard that idea floated outside of this forum, but it would make a certain level of sense.
There’s a high level of skepticism in the base about the guy’s reliability, for good reason, but at the same time, Trump will need to hire from what’s available, not some idealized perfect “MAGA” database that doesn’t exist.
Lake has been angling for the VEEP spot for months, and would accept in a heartbeat. She’s got some plusses, and some minuses, the biggest of the latter being unable to win beyond the margin of fraud in Maricopa county. No reason to suspect that she’ll be able to do any better in 2024, but at the same time, ANY Rep is facing an uphill battle with election manipulation, fraud, and general Uniparty shenanigans.
If Vivek doesn’t somehow blow himself up, he’ll be playing a prominent role in the Trump general election campaign, IMHO.

That will work too. Vivek needs a free hand to shutter agencies or implement mass layoffs in the federal bureaucracy. All he should need from Trump is his signature on documents.
I hope he doesn’t go this route either
