Idalia's forecast landfall strength and storm surge levels could reach once-in-a-lifetime levels along parts of Florida’s Gulf Coast.
Idalia is forecast to make landfall as a major hurricane (Category 3 or stronger), bringing a potential storm surge of 10 to 15 feet to the Big Bend area and 4 to 7 feet to the Tampa Bay area.
Anything greater than 4 feet of storm surge inundation in the Tampa Bay area would set a new record there. Six feet of surge inundation would set a record in Cedar Key on the southern side of the Big Bend.
While other storms, like Hurricane Ian, have produced higher storm surge, these levels would be unprecedented for this part of the Florida Gulf Coast.

Anyone that can give you a fraudulent election can also give you a fraudulent weather forecast. And manipulate your behavior. Economic and otherwise. These warnings and closures of everything from schools to airports and businesses are costing millions in lost productivity for Florida. Just last week there were reports online that the only area that was going to be active with hurricanes this season was going to be the Pacific. Suddenly that whole scenario did a one-eighty. As of now there isn't a leaf moving in Tampa, and no rain. It's dead quiet. I just get the feeling we are being deliberately manipulated by these forecasters and the various government agencies perhaps to gauge just how quickly the unwashed masses in a red state respond to their masters and empty their pocketbooks. There were lines at gas stations yesterday and on the radio we were being told to make sure we filled up with enough gas to be able to evacuate when the order came.

KILLER HURRICANES
Another good reason why libtards who are running away from the blue state disasters they created should NOT relocate to Florida!

I have been looking forward to a little hurricane action in my neck of the woods in central Maryland, but alas, after this sucker does its destruction across Florida, it looks like it will skedaddle west out into the Atlantic. Oh well, maybe next time. The drought we are experiencing is abnormal over this summer and only a hurricane will break its grip.

Just what the hell is an “official thread”? Hmmm, you're not new around here (2006) and you're in Florida, yet you've never seen NautiNurse's Hurricane threads? Curious, that is.
No, it's not "official" in the sense of "mandated by JimRob". But it's the historical default thread when bad weather hits the Gulf. That's all, no need to take a powder about it.

You sound like you work for a labor union. Are you having a baby? LOL, WTF is that about? On second thought, never mind, I probably don't want to know..... :-)
Have a great time with the weather you so lightly dismiss, and stay safe. Agree or disagree, you're a fellow FReeper and I hope you come through it okay.
Cheers!

This post isn't going to age well. Perhaps we should throw in some chemtrail and Van Allen belt posts as well to keep it company.

One last comment, meant in FRiendly spirit.
I totally agree with you about CNN and their cohort often making up predictions of catastrophic disasters every time the wind blows. It's their agenda, it's what they do, the DO manipulate the sheep, etc. No argument there.
But this one does have potential to be dangerous/destructive, whether or not CNN overstates the danger.
If you're in the target zone, I hope that you've taken reasonable precautions even it they seem unnecessary at the moment. Best of luck.

Actually, while I sense this may be a nasty bit of weather coming, I would be perfectly happy for it to fizzle out and not hurt anybody or break anything.
Let's pray that folks who minimize the potential danger/destruction nonetheless come through it okay.

Sorry CNN it doesn’t appear that your wishes for death and destruction at Tampa is not going to happen.
Nice try though as a way to improve your abyssmal ratings.

My daughter lives in Tampa and her apartment building is right on Tampa Bay. She’s spending the night, and maybe tomorrow night, in the casino area on higher ground. Her apartment is on the 3rd floor, so no problem there, but the parking lot with the cars could become flooded.

Sounds like Idalia is going to fart and pee on Florida.
Oops, sorry. Didn't mean to make fun of a very serious situation.
I take it all back. Just pretend I didn't say anything.

I live 45 miles south of Tampa and the only activity here has been some much needed rain. At this point Idalia will be 100 miles offshore when it passes by in about 5 hours.
So no, the parking lot will not be flooded.

The radar would suggest you're getting some rain, but 4 feet of storm surge in Tampa Bay is probably a CNN fantasy -- the eye is 150+ miles away from Tampa.
Hoping all is well with you and yours.

I have not checked out CNN, but FOX used the word “UNPRECEDENTED” in their displayed description of the storm. What, there’s never been a CAT 3 on the west coast of FL before? Looks like fear porn.
