Renowned geopolitical analyst Peter Zeihan recently made a startling prediction during an interview with commentator Joe Rogan.
Zeihan believes that China's collapse is imminent, with only 10 years remaining before potential disaster. The crux of his prediction lies in his assertion that China has misrepresented its population numbers, leading him to estimate that the country's actual population is lower by 100 million than what the government has officially reported.
"This is their last decade," Zeihan said of China. When Rogan clarified by asking, So, you're saying that China has 10 years to go?" His response was, "At most."
Some argue that China's massive military, control over its people and economic power are safeguards against its demise, but others point to concerning signs that hint at potential challenges ahead.
China's economy is showing signs of strain from various angles. Civil unrest erupted as a result of its strict zero-COVID policy, leading to lockdowns, reduced industrial output and restrained consumer spending.
Last year, economic growth experienced a significant decline, reaching one of its lowest levels in the past 50 years. The fourth quarter, in particular, was severely impacted by strict economic policies and political decisions that were deemed unwise.
With China's population aging rapidly, there are fewer working-age people to support retirees. The one-child policy, which lasted for more than three decades before ending in 2016, worsened the situation and threatens long-term economic prospects. While China has attempted to address this by allowing couples to have up to three children, the extent of its impact on the workforce remains uncertain.

Don't hold you breath. China has been around for a loooooong time.
The more internal problems China has the more they turn toward unification with Taiwan, especially with Xi still in power.
It was a clever act of war by the CIA to convince China to follow this policy.
Good one.
The problem is that they're all old.
China is screwed. There is little debate about that. Fate follows population. A shrinking and aging population is disastrous for any country.
Mandate of Heaven. Eventually the CCP will soon lose theirs. They've been around for what? 75 years. At this rate, they'll last another 25-50 years, then another dynasty will take power.
A 7% drop is nothing to sneeze at.
What is Peter Zeihan batting average, I don’t think it high…..
Yes, just like our own Deep State.
The analyst being quoted here is a really bright fellow with a ton of videos online.
China does have an aging population with a negative population growth, limited natural resources, centrally planned winners and losers economy, a copycat tech and invention sector, and a real estate bubble the size of the Yellowstone volcano.
Who knew that killing a generation of women would have an invoice due decades later.
If they don’t go on a killing spree to deal with their problems, they won’t disappear from existence, but they likely won’t look like they do today.
China’s evil geniuses decreed one child for its subjects. Now they need kids to entitlement funding so it’s all off. they never guessed it would ruin their system.
China scraps fines, will let families have three children.

China’s Birth Control Policy Drives Some to Kill Baby Girls
In the southern port of Zhanjiang, 12 baby girls were killed and 17 abandoned in 1982, according to Deputy Family Planning Director Wang.
////////////////
History
During the 19th century, the practice was widespread. Readings from Qing texts show a prevalence of the term ni nü (to drown girls), and drowning was the most common method used to kill female children. Other methods used were suffocation and starvation.
/////////////////////////
On September 25, 1980, in an “open letter”, the Politburo of the Chinese Communist Party requested that members of the party, and those in the Communist Youth League, lead by example and have only one child. Early in the 1980s, senior officials became increasingly concerned with reports of abandonment and female infanticide by parents desperate for a son. In 1984, the government attempted to address the issue by adjusting the one-child policy. Couples whose first child is a girl are allowed to have a second child. Even when exceptions were made to the One-Child Policy if a couple had a female child first, the baby girls were still discarded, because the parents didn’t want the financial burden of having two children. They would continuously do this until they had a boy.

China can survive under this birth shortage only if the CCP strongly encourages and incentivizes large families.
This entire article is a bunch of whining.
China is fine. A lot better off than we are.

I think I'll pass on this "renowned geopolitical analyst Peter Zeihan."
Don’t worry- China plans to make us Chinese citizens too.
Agreed. A major step to that end was getting Biden into the White House.
I think the wording here is tripping a bunch of people up. “China the COUNTRY” isn’t going anywhere. The CCP is what could be failing.
The “one child” thing lead to a HUGE imbalance of males:females. And now, with the real estate market collapsing, lots of marriage age men are giving up. “Lie flat” or “Let it rot”. Look those up if you don’t know about those trends in China.
Make no mistake, they have some SERIOUS problems on the horizon. I could see them trying to take Taiwan not because “It used to belong to China”, or any of THAT garbage, but because they (the CCP) need the money that the Taiwanese industries are making to stay afloat.
“The Chinese have been around for a long time and suspect they will be around a while longer.”
They’ll be around as they always have been but hopefully they’ll become an isolated, hermit kingdom again, not to be heard from for another thousand years.
Zeihan is grasping for relevancy. The CIA launched his career, but how much $$$ he earns is up to him and his BS.
China has existed for 5000 years in one form or another. What exactly is supposed to happen in 10 years? They disappear entirely?
