The laws typically state conviction. This one doesn’t, thus one of the reasons for the question.

Section 5, the closing of the 14th Amendment:
“The Congress shall have power to enforce, by appropriate legislation, the provisions of this article.”
Oh.
Congress, not Scotus, not the states were to enforce the 14th. But, such limitations on our judicial masters went out the window long ago.

They did look. Nothing there. He was asking for the exact number. His legal team with or without his help came up with the fake elector scheme. He was asking pence to do something beyond his constitutional duties. (Are you ok with Kamala doing the same for Joe in Jan 2025?)

It’s funny, but Rudy can’t. Or Sidney. Or Jenna. Or Donald. You better give them all that evidence. That need all the help they can get. Heck even Donald has moderated his claims. It will be interesting how he and others mount their defense. Maybe they will present their evidence. To me, they aren’t looking to provide evidence. But as they say, the night is still young.
So it will be up to SCOTUS to undo or unring that bell. Will they? My guess is Thomas & Alito will. Will others join them?
I’m reading Raoul Berger’s book for the third time.
The Scotus rot injected into our body politic based on their horrid corruption of the 14th Amendment is mostly too ingrained to reverse.
For instance, off the top of my head are the One-Man-One-Vote Scotus decisions, Brown v. Board, school busing, Obergefell (yeah not in the 1997 book), applying Bill of Rights limits on the Federal Government upon the states, and wholesale redefinition of privileges or immunities, due process of law, and equal protection of the laws.
On the bright side, Roe was reversed!
Will others join Thomas and Alito? Can’t be sure of course, but like conservatives everywhere, the Left has made it plain they are willing to imprison if not kill their opponents.
They are Marxists pigs. No duty but to destroy their political opponents.

But despite the claims of many in the right, to unring the bell, this must find its way to SCOTUS.
This is in part the danger of unintended consequences of Trump. If a conservative leaning court rules in Trump’s favor, can be used down the line by some wretched dem. AOC maybe? Or worse? Win today. Lose the future.
