At the center of the stage, and the center of the debate's hottest exchanges, was a 38-year-old man who no one expected to be there even a few months ago – a novice candidate and technology entrepreneur named Vivek Ramaswamy.
Though he’s well behind Trump, Ramaswamy has crept up in recent polls, leading to his position next to Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at center stage. And he quickly showed why when he showcased his ready-for-video, on-message approach, talking about how his poor parents moved to the U.S. and he had the ability to found billion-dollar companies. Mp> Then Ramaswamy tried to show he wasn’t a regular politician and started to throw elbows. At one point he declared “I’m the only person on the stage who isn’t bought and paid for.” He slammed his rivals as “super PAC puppets” who were using “readymade, pre-prepared slogans” to attack him.
He seemed to be betting that primary voters preferred something memorable said to something done. His rivals were having none of it.

Pence and Christie were extremely rude, interrupting others.
Didn’t see it. How was Scott?
Not great, not terrible. Just okay.
Don’t forget DeSantis, essentially saying that it’s a European war and Ukraine is not a close ally and that our priority should be for U.S. defense, not Ukraine.
Very angry that this Democratic perversion of the legal system in conjunction with the MSM to persecute Trump with these indictments just might work to tarnish him and prevent his reelection. Despite his faults, he is still the most preferable candidate to save the American nation. also incredibly frustrated that DeSantis was so foolish to have his head filled with grandiosity by the likes of Karl Rove and the Bush family. He was a rising political star with a sterling record in Florida. He should have been VP in 2024 and would have likely been President in 2028 if only he remained a bit humble, patient and dealt more maturely with Trump’s eccentrics. Vivek may be interesting but much vetting needs to be done. Great rhetoric but who is he really?
?
He’s a turd... Absolute Fraud, and it was blindingly evident tonight that he is good at flapping his lips... but his actions don’t remotely match his rhetoric.
Dude is just a less skilled slick willie with more melanin.
This guys go no business anywhere near 1600 Pennsylvania avenue in any capacity. Hell, he makes OZ look like an honest guy.
No to war whore Nikki.
I agree, Vivek would make an excellent VP choice. His platform and fire for America were impressive. I hope the party unites around Desantis for President. BTW, Pence made me ill just looking at him.
Much better future with MAGA Ramaswamy than Biden/Kamala, Bush/Cheney, Barack/Biden, Clinton/Gore etc.
Best dressed.
Your Gunga bro did good.
That tie to Soros needs ‘splainin’.
Did you forget your meds today or you are just out of the closet racist?
hmm...I think he could be VP material.
With every passing minute it appeared more and more that Vivek was running for Trump’s VP.
Yes and except for Christie they all were. No one can beat Trump in the Republican primary. Christie wouldn’t win an election for dog catcher.
Scott and DeSantis ruled. Burgam was surprisingly strong. Vivek had some good moments, might regret some others. Pence sounded good at times and simply dreadful at others (and surprisingly rude), Hutchison, Haley, and Christie all tied for last, and need not re-apply.
Thanks.
Great thing about debates.... we can see the same thing and see entirely different outcomes. Vivek and Ron did fine imho, Scott was OK but didn’t pick up any steam. Haley, Christie, Pence, Hutchison, and Burgham should hang it up. The overall winner was Ramaswamy as he held his own and now more people are familiar with who he is and what he stands for, so overall his performance helped him more than anyone else benefited from pre-debate status.
Somebody should be asking Nikki why she isn’t pushing for a greater percentage on young Ukrainian women being on the front lines and dying. What does she have against men?
