‘Hercules’ Actor Kevin Sorbo Claims He Was Blacklisted by Hollywood for Being Christian
New York Post ^ | Aug 22, 2023 | Liz Kocan

Kevin Sorbo gained fame in the 1990s when he starred as the title character in the globally syndicated series Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, which ran from 1994-1999, but in a new interview, he claimed that acting work dried up for him once he publicly started discussing his Christian beliefs.

Speaking to Fox News yesterday (Aug. 21), Sorbo stated, “It was sad to me, you know, my manager and agent for so many years said that we can’t get you jobs anymore, work with you because of you being a Christian, being a conservative.”

He continued, “I almost had to laugh at that because it’s an industry that screams for tolerance, and yet it’s a one-way street. It screams for freedom of speech. But Hollywood’s a one-way street as well. And that’s just too bad, you know. But I love the industry. I love the movies and TV.”

Sorbo added, “It was really weird. I mean, here’s the thing. We have such a huge divide in our country right now, and it’s perpetuated by the mainstream media, perpetuated by movies, TV. I don’t harbor that kind of anger and hatred towards people. I have a different point of view.”

Poor Kevin, one of my favorite actors...
First he was “black holed” then he was “black listed”...

That will teach him that spreading those evil, malicious ideals of God & country always ends badly since the 1980s...

Sorbo relates how his manager came to him and told him that
he was having a hard time finding him work based on his
Christian and Conservative beliefs.

Then the paper tries to make it look he was lying.

The Left can tell them anything from the world coming to
an end to anything else they can think up, no questions
asked. Just let one Conservative open their mouth and it’s
a lifelong goal to prove they’ve lied. Like a vendetta...

I’ve seen him in some old TV shows. (I think “Touched By An Angel” most recently.) What a hunk.

I fully believe this.

One of the reasons that for the past several months, me and my sons have been watching "Andromeda" starring Kevin Sorbo.

It's campy like Hercules, but it is still entertaining.

The good guys always win, even in the 80s.

wiki-—In late 1997, while on a publicity tour for Kull the Conqueror and between the fourth and fifth seasons of Hercules, the newly engaged Sorbo experienced an aneurysm in his shoulder which caused three strokes.

As a result, he was weakened for the next several years, a condition kept secret from the public while he recovered.

During the last two seasons of Hercules (the fifth and sixth, which aired in 1998 and 1999), Sorbo had a reduced filming schedule to accommodate his condition, and more guest stars were featured in the show in order to reduce Sorbo’s duties.

The strokes, thought to be triggered when chiropractic manipulation of his shoulder released blood clots from the aneurysm, left Sorbo with a permanent 10 percent vision loss, weakness, impaired balance, and migraines.

In his 2011 autobiography True Strength, Sorbo revealed the details of his injury and how his wife Sam helped him recover.

He’s a cutie...and seems like a genuinely nice guy and true to his faith.

I actually remember when that happened.

He’s not exaggerating.

I found the whole premise of Andromeda ridiculous. Also, the human faction that followed a combination Ayn Rand & Nietzsche philosophy was absurd! The writers clearly had no familiarity with either authors’ works.

It is not a serious show. It is in fact, downright silly, but you can learn to enjoy it with a little work.

From the article:

‘Sorbo’s so-called Christian views have led him to call Black protesters in Ferguson, Missouri “animals,”’

They were.

‘and consistently maintain that the Jan. 6 insurrection was carried out by “federal agents and ANTIFA.”’

Also true. Except it wasn’t an insurrection.

So far Kevin is batting 1000.

It took too much effort. I really wanted to support Sorbo and like it. The writers’ exposure to SciFi was clearly one where they had only walked by the SciFi section in a bookstore.

Of course, I disliked Hercules. Hercules in long pants?? Is he a German or a Greek hero? Give me the 1960s sword and sandal versions, not nearly as much suspension of belief!

Good for him on his Christianity, but really, Kevin couldn’t “act” his way out of a paper bag.

Odd that no one here has mentioned his movie “God’s Not Dead”......Very compelling and thought provoking.

Talent must be in the eye of the beholder also. I’ve watched him in several movies and thought he did great. “What If” being one that comes to mind. Never was a fan of the Herc. series though.
