Ron is my Governor and I voted for him but I do not support his campaign for President.

He needs to stand down and come home, its over and he has blown any chance he thought he had.

Any fool can see that the only Republican that can do the job this country needs to be done is Donald Trump.

Either get with Trump or join the rat party!

Good idea. Trump should withdraw from the race and endorse Desantis.

One of the problems of a year and a half presidential campaign season is that the news organizations require constant stories, and pollsters are always trying to give meaning to their numbers.

The reality is that the heart of the primary season is six months away, and the conventions are about ten or eleven months away.

Every election, the primaries are contentious and the nominee starts to solidify their support after Labor Day. That's about a year away.

Basically, things that we think are urgent now, will not be a year from now, and things that we aren't paying attention to now could be huge by the fall of 2024.

We Need a Truce: Trump’s and DeSantis’s people can’t tear each other apart and allow Biden to skate back into the White House

__________________________________________________

BS. Only Trumpers would be perfectly fine if Biden skates back into the White House - if somehow Trump is taken out.

Just look at the Only Trumper replies here. Stick this truce talk up the ying yang.

The Republican Party has the same problem in 2024 that it had in 2016.

The party’s clear front-runner has built an enormous base of support among tens of millions of Americans who aren’t even Republicans.

The GOP has spent the last 20+ years destroying its credibility among its own supporters, and anyone who runs with the perception that they are backed by the party’s leadership is destined to go down in flames during the primaries.

It would be interesting to see how the GOP leadership intends to fix this — if they even have any interest in fixing it.

Yes, Trump folks here on FR definitely need to reign in their angst over having DeSantis compete for the nomination. Stop trashing the candidate, stop posting repetitive propaganda, stop name-calling, be polite and engaging, intelligent discussion.

it is President Trump or Trump and Governor DeSantis or DeSantis.

I’d say that to all.
I want to know your platform.
I don’t need to know your opinion of Trump.

The left is waging an all out war against everything American.

Like him or not, Trump is the only thing standing between us and totalitarian tyranny.

It’s Trump or Bust.

The establishment can control everyone else. That’s why they’re running against Trump. They are being fed by the swamp.

I agree. We Trump supporters need to look kindly on DeSantis and the seven dwarfs. We need to just take the win and evaluate the others as potential cabinet people (except maybe Nikki and My Dear Ole Ramswamy).

There is no need for rancor here.

And, gee whiz, I wish I were as pure as some of Trump’s critics — maybe some day, if I work on it.

Desantis could drop out and apologize to all MAGA supporters for running against Trump this time.

I would’ve agreed with that when it looked like deSantis had a chance — but now almost nobody’s listening to him anymore so it doesn’t matter much if he attacks Trump more or not. (His attacks were a major reason his campaign died out, in the first place.)

The “can’t we all just get along” types are wishful thinkers. Fools really.

If DeSantis wants to get along with MAGA, he needs to get out of the race. As long he remains in he is, in fact, in opposition to MAGA. Nobody is taking the nomination from Trump... period. It’s unbelievable to me how anyone cannot see this.

The gaggle of back-benchers are seen as losers and self-servers who don’t get it.

Trump die hards have based their whole identity around him. They own a wardrobe of entirely Trump t-shirts, and put Trump flags on their lawns, windows, trucks, and motorcycles, as Sean Hannity preaches to them on their radios and TVs. To them it’s either Trump or no voting at all.

Trump is a religious icon to them the same way that that a leftist single woman worships Rachel Maddow, RBG, or Stacey Abrams, with the T-shirts, prayer candles, and with MSNBC constantly blaring.

The same applies for Trump followers. If Trump appears with Lindsay Graham, or Bruce Jenner, they are fine with it. If Trump locks down the country, no problem. If Trump brags about the deadly vax, they will overlook it. Whenever Trump calls someone a childish name, they clap like seals and roar with delight. They will repeat the childish insult repeatedly in deference to their gold frocked deity. “De Sanctus!!” (What does that even mean?)

If Trump says he is too good to debate, then worshippers will go along with it, chanting: “Why should he debate when corporate CNN polls say he’s ahead 6 months away before the first primary vote? Polls, polls, polls”, but in 2020 when Biden was hedging on whether to debate, Trump told his congregation repeatedly that Biden was too afraid to debate him, and that the polls were phony, and they of course roared in agreement. When Trump foolishly signed the CARES act, he paid for a fraudulent election, and he, nor any of his devotees cared or bothered to read the details. Details are for nerds and bookworms in Trump world.

If Trump dropped out tomorrow due to health they would no longer vote for anybody or anything. Trump is who they love. They aren’t interested in local bond issues or candidates for prosecutors or school related issues because those are boring and they don’t have tailgate rallies that play the Village People. They want Trump back. “He learned from his mistakes! I don’t care that he is 78, only one man can fight the deep state. So what if he hangs with Lindsay Graham and hired Chris Wray?”

It is possibly to support someone without hating the others. It really is, people.

From the article: “Unfortunately for whichever camp you fall into, the polling so far suggests that Trump can’t lose the primary and can’t win the general election.”

Anyone disagree? I voted for DT twice but not again. His only hope would be Biden running again, but I can’t imagine Dems could continue hiding his obvious senility.

the polling so far suggests that Trump can't lose the primary and can't win the general election.

Trump is polling within the margin of error against Brandon, and Brandon has 2 more years for his dementia to worsen and his policies to continue their crash and burn. Trump beats Biden like a rented mule in 2024.

Agreed.

This is like 1980, only worse. We have a walking (barely), talking (barely) disaster of a Dem in the WH, with the very survival of our nation at stake - just like in 1980, but it is worse this time. We need the Republicans to unite like they did in 1980. No, I’m not hoping for a Deep-Stater like Bush 41 to be the Veep, but I think that something can be worked out to have DeSantis be the Veep or something important in the Cabinet, with a bargain that Trump will back him in 2028. We’ve got to have 12 years of Constitutionalist, pro-American, leadership or we’ll never get our country back. In-fighting and back-stabbing will ensure that the Dems win, which will be a Class A disaster.

If the Dems “win” again, by hook or by crook (and it’ll be exactly that), then we are finished. War with China will be a certainty, as will the certain march toward Communism here, as will a CBDC that will essentially enslave the people of this country. There is no doubt that this IS the most important election of our lifetimes, and the Republicans need to circle the wagons and have all of their guns pointed outward at the Communist Dems. We cannot lose, or our nation is DONE.

Full disclosure: I voted for Trump twice in 2016 and 2020, and intend to do the same in 2024.

That set of facts on the table, this is what I have to say:

1) The Republican Party needs to be united, or we will surely lose (likely via cheating, but shooting ourselves in the foot won’t help);

2) I believe that Donald Trump is the only Republican who can both win and set this country back on the right path.

3) Trump will not be able to fix everything, even if he knew how, because he will only have 4 years in office.

4) The deal to unify the Party in 2024 HAS TO include a deal for keeping the Party unified in 2028, with an obvious front-runner who has Trump’s endorsement. I suggest that despite DeSantis’ less than stellar campaign, his top-notch job as FL governor puts him in that position more than any other non-Trump Republican at this time.

5) BOTH Trump and DeSantis have made gratuitously unflattering remarks about each other that make them both look like little children. BOTH need to put a sock in it, BOTH need to swallow their pride a bit, and BOTH need to start ringing the alarm bells about what another 4 years o Dem control over the WH will mean - no matter which Dem it is that cheats his or her way into office. This is the essence of compromise, especially in the interest of something much larger than either person - apologizing, growing up and focusing on the TRUE enemy, the Leftist/Communist Democrats who are literally in the process of destroying this country.

This BS between different wings of the Republican Party HAS to stop, or the Dems will “win” and destroy our nation. THIS is the moment for ALL Republicans/Conservatives put aside their egos in the interest of preserving our nation. If we fail to do that, then very simply nothing else matters.

So, for God’s sake, let’s first stop with the stupid sniping from BOTH sides here on FR. If we can’t do it, unified as we should be by being conservative Americans interested in the long term future of our nation, then the task is hopeless. Start HERE AND NOW - ALL OF US!!!!! Focus on the enemy, not each other!
