We Need a Truce: Trump's and DeSantis's people can't tear each other apart and allow Biden to skate back into the White House
American Thinker ^ | 08/21/2023 | Christopher Skeet

Election season is rapidly approaching. The first Republican debate is this week. The Iowa caucus is in January, and the New Hampshire primary is soon thereafter. With over a dozen declared candidates, the marathon placements are starting to take shape.

For now, don't lean too heavily on polls. First, we're too far out, and too much can happen. Second, we all know how we feel about polls. The poll showing our candidate doing well is Gospel. The poll showing our candidate faring poorly is Soros-funded dreck. As the polls change direction, so too change their designations. Rinse. Repeat.

But taking this into consideration, it is undeniable that, if all primary voting were held today, then Trump would win handily, DeSantis would come in a solid second, and both Ramaswamy and Scott will have garnered enough second-tier support to warrant vice presidential consideration. Unfortunately for whichever camp you fall into, the polling so far suggests that Trump can't lose the primary and can't win the general election.

But what should be a civil discussion among rational conservatives is turning personal and nasty — not just among candidates, but among their supporters as well. Trump-supporters are treating DeSantis-supporters like neocon sellouts, and DeSantis-supporters are treating Trump-supporters like cultish conspiracy theorists. Neither charge is merited, and the rabble-rousers on both sides would do well to cut the ad hominem attacks. Such are the tactics of leftists peddling the sexualization of children, not of principled Americans who reasonably disagree about the best path forward.

Mark my words.. in 2-3 years you won’t be able to find anyone on this forum who will admit to being a Trump loyalist. They will act like they knew all along what a grifter he was and laugh at how they were way more savvy than all the other marks

Trump was beat by massive fraud, not Biden.

That’s what I’ve been saying. All these “Never-whoever” people are being fools!
It is possibly to support someone without hating the others. It really is, people.

Trump supported Paul Ryan and touted his omnibus package.

Kristi Noem. Possibly another Mike Pence, governor of some small flyover state, but with a vagina?

I’m not knocking her. Just like you and I didn’t knock Pence in 2016.

She is too much like Palin? Not enough gravitas to close the deal?

So, remove him from the Republican ticket? If he’s not a Republican, he doesn’t belong on it.

Be careful of what you wish for. Teddy Roosevelt was a former Republican president in 1912 when he ran in the Bull Moose Party.

I could easily see Trump running third party also if he fails to win the GOP nomination.

And fail to win, giving the democrats the victory. Just like TR did.

VP candidates don't have gravitas. They are designed to broaden the appeal of the presidential candidate.

Just go through the last 45+ years of presidential elections and see the losers who ended up as running mates -- even on WINNING tickets.

Noem's role would be to attract support from female voters, while tempering Trump's NYC attitude with a country-girl personality.

Worry not, ye of little faith. Biden will not be running in the coming election—Too Much Baggage. The Obama/Hillary camp will select another name and face to look good (and not be so openly corrupt). My money is on Governor Witmer or Governor Newsom.

I've been preaching this message for months now. You have stated the plain truth in as clear a manner as ever I've seen.

Bears a repost in Large Print

Trump die hards have based their whole identity around him. They own a wardrobe of entirely Trump t-shirts, and put Trump flags on their lawns, windows, trucks, and motorcycles, as Sean Hannity preaches to them on their radios and TVs. To them it’s either Trump or no voting at all.

Trump is a religious icon to them the same way that that a leftist single woman worships Rachel Maddow, RBG, or Stacey Abrams, with the T-shirts, prayer candles, and with MSNBC constantly blaring.

The same applies for Trump followers. If Trump appears with Lindsay Graham, or Bruce Jenner, they are fine with it. If Trump locks down the country, no problem. If Trump brags about the deadly vax, they will overlook it. Whenever Trump calls someone a childish name, they clap like seals and roar with delight. They will repeat the childish insult repeatedly in deference to their gold frocked deity. “De Sanctus!!” (What does that even mean?)

If Trump says he is too good to debate, then worshippers will go along with it, chanting: “Why should he debate when corporate CNN polls say he’s ahead 6 months away before the first primary vote? Polls, polls, polls”, but in 2020 when Biden was hedging on whether to debate, Trump told his congregation repeatedly that Biden was too afraid to debate him, and that the polls were phony, and they of course roared in agreement. When Trump foolishly signed the CARES act, he paid for a fraudulent election, and he, nor any of his devotees cared or bothered to read the details. Details are for nerds and bookworms in Trump world.

If Trump dropped out tomorrow due to health they would no longer vote for anybody or anything. Trump is who they love. They aren’t interested in local bond issues or candidates for prosecutors or school related issues because those are boring and they don’t have tailgate rallies that play the Village People. They want Trump back. “He learned from his mistakes! I don’t care that he is 78, only one man can fight the deep state. So what if he hangs with Lindsay Graham and hired Chris Wray?”

From the article: “Unfortunately for whichever camp you fall into, the polling so far suggests that Trump can’t lose the primary and can’t win the general election.”

Anyone disagree? I voted for DT twice but not again. His only hope would be Biden running again, but I can’t imagine Dems could continue hiding his obvious senility.

“Tell TRUMP to stop his nonsense and everyone else will stop. It started with him and it should end with him.”

You mean Asa Hutchinson and Fat Boy will all of a sudden become sweet?

The little twerp DeSantis is over, so get over him.

the polling so far suggests that Trump can't lose the primary and can't win the general election.

Trump is polling within the margin of error against Brandon, and Brandon has 2 more years for his dementia to worsen and his policies to continue their crash and burn. Trump beats Biden like a rented mule in 2024.

>> So either we nuke America or the Dems nuke America? These are our only two choices?

Yeah, pretty much.
Except the DemonRats want to enslave and poison America, not nuke it. There’s simply too many square miles of populist Trump Country to nuke.

Also: I don’t want to nuke *all* of America. Just certain parts:

DC, including (or especially) the Virginia and Maryland suburbs where the swamp ‘rats reside;
Chicongo
All of Fulton County, GA
NYC (and throw in Ithaca)
LA
the entire San Fran Crisco Gay Area; roughly, the sphincter surrounding SF Bay
Seattle
Portland
Detroit (and throw in Ann Arbor)
Milwaukee (and throw in Madison)

...That’s not so bad, am I right? Rest of America would thrive!

All these weird conjectures.

Trump will not choose DeSantis for his veep. There are so many others. DeSantis is definitely not the force of nature his supporters are convinced he is.
