Just under half of Republicans would not vote for former President Donald Trump in 2024 if he is convicted of a felony, according to a new poll.
In a survey conducted on Wednesday and Thursday, 45% of Republicans nationwide said if Trump was "convicted of a felony crime by a jury," they would not vote for him.
The Reuters/Ipsos poll also revealed that 35% indicated that they would vote for him regardless. All others said they didn't know.
More than half of Republicans, 52%, said they wouldn't vote for Trump if he were "currently serving time in prison." Still, 28% said the former president would still have their vote.
Despite this, 75% of respondents agreed that the indictments brought against him were politically motivated. Two-thirds further said they don't believe the most recent indictment's assertion that Trump sought to perpetrate election fraud in an effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
Trump pleaded not guilty on Thursday to special counsel Jack Smith's four new charges of conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights. He was indicted by a federal grand jury in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday.
Even as roughly half of Republicans say a conviction would deter their vote, the former president has seen boosts in support in Republican primary polls on each occasion that he has been indicted or received a target letter foreshadowing an imminent indictment.
In one of several posts on Truth Social on Thursday, Trump alluded to these bumps in support, saying, "I NEED ONE MORE INDICTMENT TO ENSURE MY ELECTION!"

Okay.
Are these the same NEWS outlet who told us the Hunter Biden Laptop was a Russian hoax? We wouldn’t believe any conviction since WE WERE THERE ON JAN. 6TH. We saw no guns, no threats to police, it was all staged by the FBI. Eye witness here, totally disappointed in the News people who said it was worse than the Civil War.
You bet. Endless lip service and lies from both parties. However this shakes out, in ‘24, it will be the end of my support for these SOBs.
I have long suspected the Republican’s and Democrats are de facto one in the same. Good cop, back cop....A colossal conjob. Both parties are full of professional class career lawyer politicians who’ve hoodwinked the entire country. We all eat s**t, the country slowly dies, the middle class gets decimated, we get poorer, and the professional career politicians all become multimillionaires. Same pattern for many decades now. I’m done with their charade.
I won’t vote for anyone but Trump. In fact, when the Trump era is over, so is my support for these backstabbing, lying corrupt Republicans.

I totally agree with you.
I don’t know which party I loathe more, the demonrats for what they’re doing to us, or the GOP for not doing anything to stop the insanity!!!
Do they get to change their votes after the conviction(s) are overturned on appeal?
And yes, that is sarcasm.
There is no dealing with election stealing Democrats or Republicans who pretend it never happened.
Republican backstabbers who are supposed to be our allies are the worse and far more dangerous than Democrats by a series of magnitudes. Look at Pence for example. To think this guy used to be Trump’s VP...Spit*
yes, it is JUNK POLLING. PUSH POLLING. MANUFACTURE OPINION POLLING. FAKE POLLING.
and the MWSM looooves it, publishes it.
bury the MSM.
We must remember that 40% of voters will vote for the Republican...regardless.And 40% will vote for the Rat...regardless.It's the 20% in between who are the wild cards.
The question asked by Reuters: If this filthy, child-sacrificing, cannibalistic, monster that wants to throw grandma and her wheelchair into a volcano of boiling lava was convicted of a felony, would you still vote for this disgusting pile of feces and offal, knowing that it might cause eternal damnation for your soul?
Well said. That is my fear.
Yeah, they're the same ones who also said it wasn't his
before they changed it to a Russian hoax, IIRC.
The REPUGLICRATS lost my support in 2016 when I saw how hard they knifed TRUMP in the back, and then for the next 2 years kept twisting the shiv.
(especially that swine mccain; I don’t give capital letters to double dealing bastards)
By February of 2017 I was an Independent!
I would still vote for him if he is the nominee regardless, and will strongly consider writing in his name if he isn’t.
I have too often voted for “the lesser of two evils”, and I only thank God I didn’t have to live with the consequences of enabling a President McCain or a President Romney, but only because they lost.
I just don’t know if I can go down that road again of voting for the lesser of two evils.
Agree: if the GOP doesn’t fully and loudly support Donald Trump, I will never vote for any of them ever again.
These indictments are garbage, as are the swine pushing them.
(1) Online (2) US adults
It needs to be phone or in person contact. It should be registered voters or *active* voters. “US adults” picks up illegals, non-citizens, felons, low info types, etc— i.e. mostly leftists.
Gaslighting at its finest.
And there is no way to verify the party of someone who claims to be Republican since the voter rolls have not been used. Typical lefties will say they are Republican and then trash-talk Trump in the hopes it will look like his base is turning on them.
MANY OF US WOULD VOTE FOR TRUMP BEFORE ANYONE ELSE-—NOW OR LATER
Let it happen. In 5 years when their daughters are regularly raped coming home from the gym they can have a moment of reflection
Mister trump, through his schoolyard insults and juvenile name-calling, chooses to alienate and estrange significant fractions of his own party and also many indies.
No one likes to be called names or to be otherwise insulted. Human nature takes over and just like that, trump has new enemies.
JMO, YMMV
