Nearly half of Republicans wouldn't vote for Trump if convicted of a felony: Poll
Washington Examiner ^ | August 03, 2023 06:04 PM | Julia Johnson, Politics Reporter

Just under half of Republicans would not vote for former President Donald Trump in 2024 if he is convicted of a felony, according to a new poll.

In a survey conducted on Wednesday and Thursday, 45% of Republicans nationwide said if Trump was "convicted of a felony crime by a jury," they would not vote for him.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll also revealed that 35% indicated that they would vote for him regardless. All others said they didn't know.

More than half of Republicans, 52%, said they wouldn't vote for Trump if he were "currently serving time in prison." Still, 28% said the former president would still have their vote.

Despite this, 75% of respondents agreed that the indictments brought against him were politically motivated. Two-thirds further said they don't believe the most recent indictment's assertion that Trump sought to perpetrate election fraud in an effort to overturn the 2020 presidential election.

Trump pleaded not guilty on Thursday to special counsel Jack Smith's four new charges of conspiracy to defraud the United States, conspiracy to obstruct an official proceeding, obstruction of and attempt to obstruct an official proceeding, and conspiracy against rights. He was indicted by a federal grand jury in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday.

Even as roughly half of Republicans say a conviction would deter their vote, the former president has seen boosts in support in Republican primary polls on each occasion that he has been indicted or received a target letter foreshadowing an imminent indictment.

In one of several posts on Truth Social on Thursday, Trump alluded to these bumps in support, saying, "I NEED ONE MORE INDICTMENT TO ENSURE MY ELECTION!"

So when Trump talked about charging Biden the examiner was all “election interference, Trumps a dictator…”

But now they Biden personally ordered Trump charged it’s “Trump will lose his popularity if he’s found guilty!”

Double standards much?

“according to a new poll.”

no link to poll, no demographics for the poll.

So, junk.

Here let me...

.

In a survey conducted on Wednesday and Thursday, 97% of Republicans nationwide said if Trump was “convicted of a felony crime by a jury,” they would absolutely vote for him.

In follow-up questioning of supporters nearly 100% of poll respondents advised they do not believe any of the “lies of the doj and fbi” and want PDJT back in office to bring real charges to the neo-communist administration currently holding the real government offices hostage to LGB selling out to the CCP.

.

See how easy it is?

Make up bogus numbers, call it a “poll” and don’t publish it anywhere (because it does not exist.)

.

Trump is doing this because he loves America and the American people.

Ron DeSantis is doing it as a career move.

If Rat Party Headquarters believes this to be true they will fight like hell to get the trial completed by next summer because they know damn well that a DC jury will convict him on all charges.

It's not difficult to believe that at least some who voted for him in 2020 won't do so if he's been convicted.OTOH,it's hard to imagine anyone who didn't vote for him in 2020 would do so next year if he's been convicted.

Definitely a double standard. I remember Biden not approving of the Lock Her Up chant. He seems OK with it now!

Rubbish poll:

“gathering responses online from 1,005 U.S. adults.”

(1) Online
(2) US adults

It needs to be phone or in person contact.
It should be registered voters or *active* voters.

“US adults” picks up illegals, non-citizens, felons, low info types, etc— i.e. mostly leftists.

A push poll is an interactive marketing technique, most commonly employed during political campaigning, in which an individual or organization attempts to influence prospective voters' views under the appearance of conducting an opinion poll. JMO, YMMV
