What NASA and the European Space Agency are admitting but the media are failing to report about our current heat wave
American Thinker ^ | July 31, 2023 | Thomas Lifson

The current heat wave is being relentlessly blamed on increasing levels of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere, but there is a much more plausible explanation, one that is virtually endorsed by two of the world’s leading scientific organizations. It turns out that levels of water vapor in the atmosphere have dramatically increased over the last year-and-a-half, and water vapor is well recognized as a greenhouse gas, whose heightened presence leads to higher temperatures, a mechanism that dwarfs any effect CO2 may have.

I’ll be damned. I made a SWAG on this years ago. Water vapor is a byproduct of a catalytic converter. So by getting rid of leaded gas, did we help cause this??

The result of perfect combustion of a Hydrocarbon in oxygen is CO2 and water.

So water is also a byproduct of hydrocarbon combustion, not just a byproduct of a catalytic converter.

We already knew dihydrogen monoxide was a killer. Didn’t know it was a planet killer.

The conclusions of the research mentioned need to be examined by others. I’m inclined to believe the conclusions but global weather is complex.

I guess I should have listened better in chemistry class, but I do seem much more water running out of the tailpipes of modern cars than I recall in the days of leaded gas.

how bout all these solar panels capturing & holding heat from the sun and not allowing it to be naturally released & dissipated into the atmosphere like pre solar panel days?????

The media has this ridiculous propaganda and debate every summer - look how how hot it is in XYC state!

Meanwhile, in Germany, for example, present temperatures for the last week of July are in the high 50’s - low 60s, with persistent rain.

They could do with a bit of this “global warming”

Read an article oh FR yesterday explaining how that huge underwater volcano that blew up last year is a major cause for the increase is water vapor.
God IS in charge. Everyone enjoy the day!

I’m visiting Florida from Ohio shortly and neither is overly hot for the end of July. If anything, they’re a little cool.

We have certainly seen more rain than usual for July. Let’s just hope that is doesn’t mean more hurricanes or tornados. Rain I can handle.

S. Ohio will be about 84 high and Ft Myers about 95.

Much lower for Ohio & a little lower for Ft Myers.

It helps to both have good excerpts - ahem - and to actually read the source material.

This is likely the same story.

No doubt you do see more water dripping out of cars, because today's engines are more efficient and you are correct that catalytic converters do produce some water. But the vast majority of water vapor produced is from combustion.

The perfect chemical reaction is HC + O2 = CO2 + H2O.

The real world imperfect combustion also has Nitrogen Oxides (NOX), Carbon Monoxide (CO), and other byproducts which the catalytic converter helps to convert to Nitrogen (N2), CO2 and H2O.

And wind turbines usurping wind energy from the atmosphere.

Yep, the EPA is the cause of global climate change. I’ll go with that.

Here in Reno the hillsides in the desert are still green. Very unusual.
