On July 4, the BBC published a story, "Nigel Farage bank account shut for falling below wealth limit, source tells BBC," which countered British Brexit leader Nigel Farage's claim that Coutts bank closed his account for political reasons. It turned out that Farage was correct about the real reason why his bank account was closed and to its credit, BBC not only updated a correction at the top of the story but on Monday issued a full apology to Farage.

The difference is.. That the BBC IS the government.
In the US, The media pretend that they are NOT a wholey owned subsidiary of the Democrat Party. and the official Dem PR wing.
The difference is that, from what I believe, the threshold for proving libel and slander is much lower in the UK.

All good. But a retraction and a profuse apology does not negate a deliberate political slander. They knew exactly, precisely, why his account was closed.
Unless the a-holes who pushed that line of BS are fired or resign, the BBC didn't apologize.
