It’s lovely to dream about such things, isn’t it?

The plea deal was off, then on, now it's off a second time.

It’s push comes to shove time

Sorry...I missed that intermediate step of a "nudge"

“Nudging” in public policy involves using behavioral, economic, and psychological insights to influence the behavior of policy targets in order to help achieve policy goals.

This approach to public policy was advocated by Thaler and Sunstein in their book Nudge in 2008.

Nudging is underpinned by a conception that individuals use mental shortcuts (heuristics) in day-to-day decision-making, shortcuts that do not always serve their long-term interests (for instance, in relation to eating and exercise patterns, road safety, or saving for the future).

Nudging does not involve seeking to persuade individuals about the merits of pursuing particular courses of action that will better serve their long-term welfare.

Rather, it involves altering the choice environment so that when people follow their instincts, using familiar mental shortcuts, the most prominent option available to the policy target will be one that is likely to promote their own welfare, and that of society more widely.

Nudging has come to be considered a core part of the policy toolkit in many countries but academic scholarship has also debated the ethical dimensions of nudging, and there is a flourishing research literature on the efficacy, public acceptability, merits, and limitations of this approach within public policy.

That’s what a plea deal does...cancels out a trial.

No blanket immunity, but WTF?

Why isn’t the DOJ trying to get Hnnter to turn State’s evidence so theyu can get at Joe.( Thats what they tried with PDJT)

Special Prostitutor needed.

Garland is going to get his panties in a hitch yet.

... this means he’s covered for everything up to midnight on New Years Eve 2018.

Nope, for everything up to midnight on New Years Eve 2019.

“”and that the judge is asking how the prosecution could come up with such a sweetheart deal.””

.

Well your Honor, good `ol Hunter here, why he is a solid prog and is really sorry about the whole corruption/bribery/gun/kiddie pervert/blow thing and really really will do better.

So if he could just walk away instead of doing 25 to life in a federal slammer like the little people, his daddy Prezzy Pedo-Joe will forget about those DOJ and FBI investigations of you that you didn’t know about.

.

This was hugely embarrassing to both teams of lawyers. Jonathan Turley had a great comment today: "It was like a wedding when the minister pauses to ask "Does anyone have an objection to this marriage and both sides saying "I have one!"

Andrew McCarthy then added "The minister (ie. judge) says I have one as well!"

The perils of posting breaking news. The story was completely true, both Biden and DOJ agreed on more limited immunity, but it was the judge who torpedoed the deal temporarily.

Rumor has it that they'll all be back in court in a few days to try again...

The perils of posting breaking news.

It's not the "The perils of posting breaking news." It's the perils of wanting to be first.

I've been advocating for decades to take a breath or two before rushing to accept what the LAAP-dog media presents as "breaking news." The LAAP-dog media in incentivized to "not let a crisis go to waste" so that they can create narratives that further the liberal agenda.

Those narratives always fall apart within 48 hours, let alone 48 minutes.

maybe the Hunter judge should wait for Archer’s testimony before she even thinks about addressing the new(old) deal?

where in the heck did he get the millions needed to pay off such a sum?

From the NY Post, 8 May 2022:

"A big-shot Hollywood lawyer reportedly paid off Hunter Biden’s delinquent taxes — which a source told The Post amounted to more than $2 million — as President Biden’s notoriously troubled son awaits the results of a Delaware grand jury’s investigation into his personal finances.

"Kevin Morris, an entertainment attorney and novelist who earned a fortune representing the co-creators of “South Park” and won a Tony Award as the co-producer of “The Book of Mormon,” footed Hunter Biden’s overdue taxes totaling over $2 million — more than twice what was previously reported, a source familiar with conversations between the two told The Post.

"Morris, whom Hunter Biden’s friends call his latest “sugar brother,” has also been funding the 52-year-old’s lifestyle in Los Angeles — including his rent and living expenses, the source said."

--

Of course, this was a gift on which gift tax must be paid. Per the IRS (and a surprise to me) most often the giver pays that tax, less often the recipient.

Hunter Biden, the perennial grifter ...
